                          Imagine what would have happened if Percy had let Annabeth slip out of his fingers. What if she suffered by herself? What if Percy pulled her up and they dropped the Athena parthenoses? (Idk spelling.) what if he pulled her up, but then he, or another Argo || member fell?

                          This was literally actually one of the best options.
