A loud bang woke me up. It was dark and I couldn't see much. We must've slept all day.
I looked around. I was still sleepy so it took a while to understand what the loud sound was. When I understood, I started moving quick to get pur things and start leaving. The bottle had fallen off! There were weird sounds coming from the other side of the door. Someone tried to enter.
I looked over to Filippa to see that she too understood what was happening and was redying herself.
We were finished after two minutes and I quickly ran towards the window.
The rope was ready, just beside the window. I tied the rope around one of the legs of the bed and opened the window. Then I threw out the rope.
"Ready?" I asked. She nodded and I secured our bags.
"I will go first, I'm good at climbing and can catch you or help you if you fall" I said to her and started climbing.
It didn't take long for me to reach the ground. Filippa was close behind me.
She had just reached the ground when we heard some very loud noises in from our room and footsteps. Our followers weren't that far behind us.
Filippa started running towards the direcrion where our car was parked and I followed her. The streets were empty and no lamps were lit. No one was awake. Not even after the noise we made.
We got to the car and I sat on the driver's seat. Filippa sat down and we started the car. That had been close. If she hadn't warned me...I didn't want to think about what might have happened if we weren't careful. They would get us in our sleep and the hotel staff would find us dead in our beds, all covered in blood. I shuddered, that wouldn't be a pleasant sight.
We continued our journey. Our destination wasn't that far away. We would get there during the night.
I realized that I hadn't talked to Filippa about much more than what was happening now, this nightmare we found ourselves in. I didn't even know how she was when I wasn't her friend.
"What did you do when we stopped being friends?" I asked her
"What do you mean?"
"Did you find any other friends, did you change activities after school, that sort of stuff" I answered her
"Well, I couldn't find any good friends. Not really. It may have looked like I did, but I didn't. I did hang out with some people and try to make friends but I felt like I didn't belong there. What about you? I saw that you frequently hanged out with a group of people."
"At first I couldn't find any but later I found some friends. They were really kind to me and fun to hang out with but I still missed you a little. It wasn't quite the same without you. I admitted to her.
We returned to silence. We didn't really know what to say and the views would even make a super optimist give up. The closer we got to the place where it all started, the more destruction we saw. Entire buildings had collapsed, cars and trash were everywhere and there were big holes in the asfalt. There was also dust in the air and made the visibility worse.
It looked like some of the pictures of cities after WWII. There were also some bodies sticking out of some places. It made me wonder if there was still something left to save. Even if we would manage to save the world, it would take a long time before everything would return to normal.
I parked the car when we could no longer travel that way. The roads were full of different things that would make it difficult to maneuver through them by car. There were pieces of pavement, parts of the buildings, abandoned cars, thrash, trashcans lying on the side, bikes and other sort of things.
We made sure that we had everything and went towards some ruins of a shop. I wanted to be careful, just because we didn't see anyone didn't mean that no one was there. I expected thousands of Kaechis to be there. Perhaps they were hiding. That's what I would do if I were them.
We continued moving along different ruins and buildings that looked as i they would collapse.
I suddenly heard footsteps so I jumped into a building, pulling Filippa with me. We hid behind in a broken down kitchen and looked outside the glassless window.
The sight wasn't good.
A/N Thanks for reading and staying withe me, even though it took some time for me to update. I really appreciate it.
I wanted to inform that it may take two or three weeks before my updates, I won't be able to update each week like I did in the beginning.
There are about two chapters left so this book will be finished soon. I will edit it then, maybe add more descriptions and dialogues. That's all, have a nice day :)
