I didn't carry anything with me because all I owned was the clothes on my back. As I jumped in the passenger seat of Marvin's car, I thought of that woman named Becky. I wonder who she was. How does she know me? She was always in the back of my mind. Every time it was silent, my thoughts of her flooded back. The thing was that it wasn't quiet. I could hear kids crying, and his car radio was on.

"Are you ready to go?" He asked me as if I wanted to change my mind and stay.

"Let's go!" I tried to say as positively as possible. While on the inside, I was still thinking about that lady. I felt connected with her in some way.

After some hours of traveling, we had arrived at my new home. It was a mansion.

You know that story about Orphan Annie? And how she was adopted by a rich guy? She was like taken from nothing and became something? This felt just like that.

"How? What?" I asked. I couldn't believe he lived here. Out of all the places, he lived here. In a mansion.

"My parents died in a terrible accident shortly after I was born. Coincidentally, they had just written their will, and wanted me to inherit everything. Sometimes I think maybe that had happened for a reason." He said this as he looked at the house and then back at me.

"At least you know a little about your parents." I said depressingly. I felt sad because I didn't know either one of my parents. All I knew was that I was abandoned. Left to fend for myself.

"Maybe you can look into it in the future," he said to help get me out of a gloomy mood.

"Did you drive all the way to my orphanage just to see me in particular or to adopt a teenager?" I asked curiously while I still had his attention.

"Let's go inside." He said this to avoid my question. He was trying to avoid one of my questions yet again.

He grabbed me by the arm like a princess, and we walked to the front door. This wasn't any ordinary front door though. It was huge with these swirls almost as if someone built it themselves with plaster. There was even a little peep window like the ones in the movies.

The whole house was a cream color except for the roof. It was an old, vintage mansion yet so modern. It intrigued me. I instantly thought of the fun time I'll have exploring the place.

He opened the door for me, and I walked in. I couldn't believe my eyes. I had never seen anything this fancy. Immediately following this thought, I noticed this big, sparkly chandelier hanging from the ceiling.

In the middle of the floor, there were these two staircases leading to opposite ends: left and right. To my left, there was a gigantic kitchen with all the food you can imagine. It almost too good to be true. To my right, there was a living room with a flat screen tv. There was also a couch that made a full circle with sheets and pillows in the middle facing the tv. He watched my amazement towards the couch and grabbed a remote. By clicking a small button, the couch opened up halfway to show two separate halves of the full circle. The whole house was way too manly and needed some help with designing.

"You're room is the right stairway. Keep going straight until you find a door with your name carved in it." He said this with a broad smile on his face. "I'll be downstairs cooking dinner."

"Okay."I said while trying to keep myself from bolting up the stairs. I couldn't wait to see what my room looked like.
