After I left school, my phone buzzed
and saw I had a call from Jonathan.
"Hello?"
"Your lucky mom didn't pick up the
phone."
"So I left early. Who cares? They
all want me dead anyway."
"Just don't cut class again.
Understand?"
"Yes dad." I joked
"Haha very funny. Where are you?"
"Just got off the bus. Why?"
"Ok see you home."
Then the line went dead. I shoved
my phone in my pocket and walked
home. The wind was howling and
strong. I gripped my jacket closer
and walked. It felt like ages just
getting to my house. After feeling like
it's been forever, I reached my house
and Jonathan opened the door.
"Damn Julie it's freezing out there.
You shouldn't we walking when it's
that cold." He scolded. "I'm fine.
See. Perfectly fine." I was annoyed. I
just wanted to be alone. I ran up to
my room and slammed the door. I
looked out the window and found a
carving in the tree. That was never
there before. I took a closer look and it
read:
Julianne, your dad is coming. He's
coming home.
I backed away from the window in
shock. I haven't seen my dad in
years. He is currently in the Coast
Guard and the last time I saw him
was when I graduated 8th grade.
Now I'm a senior in high school and
he's coming home. The door bell
rang and I ran down a few steps and
tumbled down the stairs. "Crap Julie
are you ok?" Jonathan panicked.
"I'm fine." Ever since I couldn't find
my razors, falling down the stairs felt
good. I got up and opened the door.
I widened my eyes. He was home.
"Dad?" "Yes baby girl. I'm home."
I jumped on top of him and cried. He
was really home. After all those
years I thought that he was never
coming home and that he died in
war, I was wrong. "It's ok darling.
I'm home. I'm home for good."
*****Ok so I'm heading to Florida tonight and should arrive in the afternoon/evening. So if I'm bored on the road I'll probably update. So have a good winter break!
