Lucy refused to look into his deep golden eyes as he stared at her. His jaw looked tight, making it look like he had his teeth clenched hard. "Stop staring at me" she sneered at him. He ignored her demand and continued to stare at her. She turned away from him and tugged on the chains that connected her to him. Lucy stopped when she heard a small sniffle.  She quickly spun around and saw Jackal burying his face in his dirty hands. Lucy was confused, did she upset him again? 'Is he... crying?" The blonde questioned herself after staring at him for a bit. Lucy quickly looked back down at the cuffs locked around her wrist. Let's see, it's been a while since she'd eaten, she's lost weight causing her wrist to become smaller. Plus there was the actual cuff, it had been dented, maybe she could wriggle her hand free. It's risky, but it's something she had to do.

Her brown eyes glanced up at Jackal one more time, seeing he was facing away wiping his face she took her chance. She grabbed the cuff and squeezed her hand as small as possible. She bit her lip, trying her best to not groan as she felt the cuff dig into her skin, some of the small damaged parts caused the metal to poke out in small spikes. That made it even worse.
Lucy clenched her teeth and pulled harder. That was when it finally slipped out. Even though the cuff was not tight her wrist and hand felt complete freedom as it slipped off. She quickly put her eyes back on Jackal. Good! He hadn't noticed. Lucy slowly and carefully stood, controlling her breath so it was barely noticeable. The blonde stepped back quietly until she felt she was far enough.

As quick as possible she sprinted, ignoring all the pain from her injuries. A while after sprinting her injuries proved to be too much and the desperate girl had to stop. A small wail escaped her lips as she held the leg that contained to injury. "I hope... He didn't follow me..." She whispered softly to herself. After looking around her it seems he didn't. She couldn't spot anyone, nor did she feel another presence. Lucy quickly got back onto her feet and continued on.

With Jackal

Jackal slowly lifted his face from his hands and sighed, running his hand through his messy golden hair. His ears twitched in frustration. He then looked to his side to see Lucy. But he was beyond stunned when he saw she was gone. The cuff he attached to her laid on the ground, no Lucy connected to it. He jumped to his feet, a wild and worried expression on his face and in his eyes. "Lucy!?" He called out. "Lucy!? Where are you!?" He screamed out again. His ear laid flat against his head while his heart thumped painfully in his chest.

Fear and worry took over him and forgot all logic that he could use to find her. He could easily sniff her out and such, but his emotion and anxiety got in the way. So he ran in different direction attempting to find her. He soon gave up. The demon clutched his head as tears gathered in his eyes. "Lucy, where'd you go...? Why'd you leave?" He dropped to his knees.

"Y-You can't do that..." His voice started to change. "You can't!" His tone went from high to a deep, dark growl within seconds.

"You can't do that!"

Natsu, Erza and Gray froze at the sound of another voice. Natsu used his Dragon Slayer hearing to make out what the person was saying.

"Lucy! Lucy!? Where are you!?"

"Lucy, where'd you go? Why did you leave?"

"Y-You can't do that..."

"You can't!

"You can't do that!"

"Jackal!" Natsu screamed in rage as he rushed forward toward the voice, with Erza and Gray following behind him. "Get him Natsu!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jackal leant forward, finally remember a logical way of finding her. He raised his nose into the soft air. His eyes snapped open, his cat-like pupil growing small. It was her scent. He dug his fingers into the soil and leapt forward into a fast sprint, chasing after her smell until it grew stronger and stronger. His teeth clenched, a deep growl in his chest as he got closer to her. Until he could see in the figure in the distance of the misty woods.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lucy heard it, the sound of footsteps running desperately after her. She heaved herself off the tree she leant on and took off into a wild sprint herself. Her breaths almost turned into screams as she fears he would catch her. Unfortunately, she didn't get far as she felt a hand wrap around her upper arm and tug her backwards. She screaming, kicked and punched with all her might.

"What the hell did you think you were trying to do!? You worthless pile of shit!" Jackal screamed at her, throwing her harshly onto the ground in his usual cruel nature. But that's when all the rage and anger from his features disappeared and were replaced with a sympathetic look. He bent down and locked eyes with her. He slowly and gently cupped her face as she shuddered back in fear. "Lucy... I thought I told you never to run away from me again." She just spat at him with loads of swears while wishing horrible thing upon him. All she wanted to do was get away, but he stopped her again. She wanted to live her life freely with her wonderful friends. This demon whom she hated so much continuously got in the way of that!

A demonically evil grin suddenly appeared on his features as he towered over her. "You disobeyed me again, Lucy" he pulled a knife from his belt, making Lucy go into a sudden panic. "I will teach you to not disobey me!"

As he swung the knife down, ready to plunge it into her soft flesh, something knocked the knife from his grasp, sending it flying away into the distance. "An ice... arrow?" Jackal muttered. Lucy was too shocked to speak. Lucy gasped as Jackal was knocked away from her by a ball of fire. And then she saw him.

"Natsu..."

GAHHHHH

Yoyoyo guys, my deepest apologies for taking so long :/
School was taking up my time (as you all know) BUT I'm on break now so I'll have all the time in the world for writing. So I'll probs update a lot during the holidays :D

As some of you know I've mentioned in another A/N this series will be ending soon, but the main thing I'm worried about is the ending. I know a lot of you want Lucy and Jackal to become lovers in the end and such. Unfortunately, that will more than likely not be happening :c

I'm trying to take a realistic approach to the *cough* 'relationship' between these two characters, Jackal and Lucy. Now realistically, Lucy HATES Jackal and there's no way they could ever be together. Jackal did so many horrible things to Lucy. Things that I even regret writing to this day. Example - The rape scene in the first book. Ugh. I HATE it. It's defiantly something I feel I should've stayed away from. At the time I thought I could to the scene well, but that was back when I was newer to writing, and reading it now makes me feel guilty and sick. I honestly really hate it and wanted to delete it, but I knew that if I did it would mess up the story and there would be so much stuff I would have to go back and change.
So those were just some things I wanted to mention. I'm sorry if you're disappointed, but in my opinion, it's the best way I could end the series.
Hope you all enjoyed this chapter.
Ciao!

(Update, rape scene is deleted, but it is implied that it happened in other chapters)
