*Me at the zoo*(This is why my mom forbids me to go)

The Next Morning-

I had moved all(meaning, very little) of my possessions into my new, well, I don't know if you can call it room.

My bed was now a futon, made by the blankets from upstairs.

The rest of my special belongings, the periwinkle dress from mother, an acorn from the garden, a special music box that belonged to my mother.

In that music box, however, was only a broken chess piece- the white queen, split in half.

The piece was very beautiful, with intricate and handmade designs, and as a child I couldn't bear to throw it away.

All these small but previous items I had hidden in between bottles of wine.

"Ah, Lyra, you'll choke if you eat such a big piece!" I cry, carefully removing the large chunk of cheese from the mouse's mouth.

I sit on my knees, calmly breaking apart their food into mice-bites.

"Now, that wasn't so hard was it?" I say, winking.

"Who is she talking to?" Sherria whispered, disgusted by her new sister.

Sherry snickered. "I don't know, probably talking to the beer... thinks that they're her friends..."

They both giggled, at the top of the stairs looking down at the closed door of the cellar.

"Well, cross your fingers that it isn't contagious."

"You're the one that started talking to that picture frame of yours."

"YOU'RE THE ONE WHO TALKS TO THE MIRROR!"

"NO I DO NOT!"

"See you later, guys!" her voice came, and the two sisters scattered, sending each other glares.

I climbed up the stairs, heading outside towards the garden.

Beth and Risley were going to clean up the shed, and I want to help.

I spotted my stepmother at the side of the house, her arms crossed and wearing a revealing wine red dress with her white boa.

Beth was standing beside her, looking increasingly nervous next to the intimadiating figure.

"You," she snapped her hands, getting Beth's attention.

"Y-yes M'lady?" our gardener said anxiously.

"Remove the ivy." Minerva commanded her. "It's out of style, and not very fashionable."

"Wait, excuse me," I interrupted, having absolutely no intention of removing the ivy.

"Yes?" she raises her eyebrows, a dark and menacing shield forming in her eyes.

"I don't think that's a good idea. Me and my family are very attached to it, and I would really like to keep it." I say honestly.

Minerva glares at me, standing and leaning infront of me.

She smirked, raising her chin in superiority. "Do it."

Beth froze. She looked at me, then back at Minerva. It went on like that for a while, entirely unsure of what to do.

"I said DO IT!" Minerva charged, a violent tone to her voice.

Beth jumped out of fright, and I gave her a quick nod of approval.

Beth doesn't deserve to be caught up in this commotion.
