Narrator's Pov

Astrid inhaled slowly, the burning sensation on her wrists almost overwhelming her body. Her eyes were closed, hot tears underneath her eyelids.

'I'm not special in his eyes...

...heck he doesn't even know I exist' she thought

A sudden rush of footsteps startled her and before she could see who was coming, her blade was snatched from he hands and thrown to the otherside of the hallway. Her shoulders were gripped securely, not too hard and not too soft.

Her eyes finally rested on two green pools staring back at her. She froze.

Hayden's heart pounded in his chest as he got on his knees and tore the blade from the girls hands. He gripped her shoulders staring at her face to face. He suppressed his quiet sobs stuck his throat and lost himself at sea.

Her eyes were mesmerizing. They were so blue. From the distance he was from the girl before he could see only so little. But now?

At this distance he saw her eyes in full detail. He could see the dark blue streaks of the deepest of oceans and the faint blue streaks of the peaceful quiet sky. He could also see the gray streaks that clouded her eyes
in grief like a sunny warm day, ruined by a cold storm.

Hayden's heart began to ache. The emotions that were expressed by her eyes were all to familiar. He pressed his lips together firmly, admiring her face, which was puffy and red.

She was beautiful.

And he admitted it to himself that she was, remembering his girlfriend.

Astrid's heart began to pound as she finally realized that the aburn haired boy she so deeply longed for held her shoulders and studied her face so diligently for the first time.

Suddenly, she was pulled to a warm embrace. She hugged him back, remembering his eyes, full of tears.

After a few moments, their embrace ended and Hayden finally spoke up.

"You shouldn't do this to yourself" he said quietly. "It's not worth it. You're worth more than this" He lifted her wrists gently as he held them in his large hands. Astrid's jaw tightened, tears continued to fall from her as she tried to control them. Clearly, she failed. And stayed silent.

"Your value doesn't decrease based on someone's inability to see your worth, not even you" he whispered to her, pushing her bangs to the right and tucking a few stranded of hair behind her ear. He smiled sweetly at her.

At this moment, Astrid's tears have dried. And her lure for pain disappeared. She bit the inside of her lip after what he said, looking up at his eyes. His forest green eyes that she never thought she would get to see this close up before. A very faint and short smile appeared on her face.

Hayden's eyes studied her face. "My name is Hayden Horrendous Haddock the third" he greeted, promptly placing a hand on his chest. Trying to start a conversation.

Astrid's smile very faintly. "I know who you are" she said quietly

He smiled back. "And who are you?" He asked.

Astrid's face went blank again slightly away. "I-I'm nobody" she said, so quietly Hayden barely understand her.

He chuckles, shaking his head softly. "You are someone. You are a beautiful person and you deserve a beautiful life. Not this. You don't deserve this. No one does" he said.

Astrid tried to suppress it, but heat rushed to her face unwillingly. She pulled her hands towards her face to cover it, but she was denied.

Hayden kept them secured in his hands, as he cheekily grinned and then began to blush very faintly it was almost unnoticeable.

"Between you and me. I am called Hiccup for short" he chuckles, embarrassed.

He ears became red as well as his cheeks. He no longer cared about keeping his odd nickname from people, even Merida. All he cared about was making this girl smile. Astrid smiled reflexively to the odd nickname, but was then able to controll herself.

"I'm Astrid. Astrid Hofferson" she at last replied shyly.

Hayden smiled cheerily once again. "You have a very beautiful name, if I must so say myself. It suits you"

Astrid blushed tremendously again, but softly giggle along with his chuckles.

He got on his knees and slowly stood up not releasing her hands, as he guided her up to stand as well.

He gently grabbed her hand and kissed it softly. He looked up and stood straight again. "Sorry, I needed to properly greet my new beautiful friend" he grinned.

Astrid laughed showing him her straight white teeth.

Hayden's heart thudded once more. Her smile melt his heart. "You have a beautiful smile and an even better laugh" he admitted.

Astrid pressed her lip together, blushing uncontrollably. "Sorry" she spoke softly.

"No. Don't apologize, it's a good thing to smile" he said.

He placed a hand on her small back guiding her to walk to the girls restroom. "Let's go get you cleaned up".
