Astrid's Pov

They rest of the day went by like any other day, hidden in the shadows of an ocean of people. The bell rang and I left the last period of the day. I tugged my bag over my shoulder and walked down the street towards my house. Suddenly, the sky turned grey and it began to rain.

I quickened my pace, but still managed to get completely soaked. I groaned has I walked up the steps to my front porch in my drenched shoes.
I carefully took them off and placed them next to the door to dry. After placing my shoes outside, I walked into my house and set my bag on the table.

Running upstairs into my bedroom I grabbed a pair of Nike shorts and a grey t-shirt and headed to the bathroom for a shower.

After my quick shower, I changed into the shorts and t-shirt. Then, I walked down stairs and fell on the couch in front of the tv.

I sighed, content at last. A buzzing interrupt my peace. I grabbed my phone from my bag and answered the call.

"Hey mom" I answered

"Hey sweetie! Listen I've got some bad news. The hospital in packed today. Some virus that's going around, hopefully it's not what you were catching this morning. But anyway, I have a late shift again, so I may not be home tonight" she replied.

"Its alright mom, I'll be fine"

"Okay then, be careful and lock the doors! And don't open the door to any strangers!"

I laugh softly. "Yes mom. I know, I got it"

"Well okay then, I see you soon"

"Okay mom, bye"

I hang up the phone and jump back on the couch.

A sudden knocked interrupted my rest once more and I groaned. I got up and began to walk towards the door.

Who could this possibly be?

Narrator's Pov

Astrid made her way to the door and opened it. A small gasp left her lips.

Hayden stood at the center of her porch, smiling. He wore a black raincoat. Finally, he shrugged his shoulders and said "Did you forget?"

She bit her lip and shook her head. "No, but I-".

She didn't want to blame Merida. What would he think of her if she accuses his girlfriend?

"Sorry, I lost your number. So I couldn't call", she replied. She looked up at him. His overgrown hair was drenched by the storm and it stuck to the edges of his face. Then, she raised an eyebrow.

"How did you find out where I live?" She asked, realizing he barely knew she existed today.

He eyes widened and his cheeks burned. "I- uh. I followed you home"

Astrid's stared at him eye widened.

"With good intentions, of course!", he flustered and stuttered his words out.

A moment of silence overtook them. Astrid shuffled her feet and chuckled.

"I understand", she smiled under bangs.

At this moment, Hayden got a good look of her eyes. Crisp blue orbs. His breath was taken and he chuckled nervously, then cleared his throat.

"Erm, if you don't mind. We still have a project to do. Would you mind if I stay?" He asked.

Astrid's heart beated against her chest, she locked eyes with his forest green eyes. They look warm and kind. They made her feel safe.

She grabbed her scarred wrist and nodded slightly. "Yeah, sure"

They made their way inside her house into the warmth. Hiccup took off his coat and hung it.

"Nice place you got here" he said, taking in her setting.

It was a small house, a simple one, not like his own. A small kitchen to his left and living room with the tv on to his right, along with a gray large lounge sofa. Straight ahead, a hallway that led to two rooms.

"Its not much, but its a comfortable living for my mom and I" Astrid bit her lip, as she continued to put the dishes away.

He smiled and turned back to admiring her house. He noticed a fireplace hear the living room, but it wasn't being used. He turned back around to glance at his partner and noticed her lightly shivering.

He silently walked up behind her and softly placed his hands on her bare arms. Astrid jumped dropping a plate. It shattered once it hit the floor.

"Oh gosh, Im so sorry", Hayden quickly apologized and began to clean up the mess.

Astrid stood, leaning on the table as her cheeks flushed.

"Its alright, you just startled me" she assured him.

After cleaning the mess, Hayden stood up.

"Sorry, I was making sure if you were cold" he said, stuttering.

Astrid smiled. "You could've just asked you know?"

Hayden's face reddened.

"Right! Of course! Sorry about that". He rubbed the back of his neck. "Erm, are you cold?"

Astrid giggled. "Yes a little"

He chuckled nervously. "Ill be right back"

He turned around and made his way to the fireplace, and facepalmed himself

"Stupid"
