The Hospital

I woke up to the sound of beeping every couple seconds. I slowly open my eyes and look down at my body. I notice that I have a tube in my arm with an IV at the end. I was so confused, so I lifted my head up to try and see where I was and why I had an IV in my arm. I notice that I'm in a hospital lying in one of the beds, alone. I try to find the beeping noise that woke me up by looking around by me,  it's getting pretty annoying by now. I then find a monitor sitting beside me, with what I guess to be my heart rate going across the monitors screen. It's steady but not running at a normal pace. I then hear mumbling outside of my hospital door.

"Is Steven going to be ok?" I hear a familiar voice ask, but I can't quite tell who the voice belongs to.

"He'll be fine. Just a few more hours and he can go home. He actually healed quite well and he did it in a quick amount of time too! Our patients who usually get a severe cut on their face don't heal this fast! We didn't even have to give him stitches! It's amazing! But he will definitely have a permanent scar. " I lifted my hand up to my face to see if the doctors words were true. I ran my fingers along the cut in my face and it was almost completely healed. I'm surprised because I had just got it less than an hour ago from Connie. I don't know what had gottten into her. I then heard the hospital door creak open. Pearl , Garnet, and Amethyst were standing in the doorway. Amethyst ran over to me and said

"Are you ok dude?"

"I'm fine actually. I don't even feel pain, to be honest." I said. Garnet didn't walk over to me but she walked over to a nearby chair and sat in it. Pearl ran over to me and grabbed my hand , immediately falling onto her knees crying into my arm.

"Pearl , I'm fine."

Pearl whispered

" I'm so sorry Rose... I couldn't protect you..." I immediately got infuriated with what Pearl had just said. I forcefully yanked my hand away from her grip and looked down at her with my eyebrows raised. She slowly looked up at me and deeply regretted what she just said.

"Steven... I didn't mean..."

"Pearl, I think you should leave." Garnet said with an angry tone in her voice. Pearl opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. She decided to close her mouth and get off her knees. She walked towards the door with her head down. Before she exited the room, she turned around towards me and said

"I'm sorry."  As tears began to well up in her eyes, she turned around and walked through the doorway.
