A/N: Above is Magnus! Such a handsome boy!

The crack of dawn in Hobbiton was never signified by roosters making a nuisance of themselves. It was the caressing light filtering through painted windows. Sometimes it was the call of Sparrows. Yet, most often, it was the giggling of restless children. Saraen loved that sound; it soothed something deep inside her and made her long for her own children.

A gaggle of litt'luns parading through the gardens and delivering the occasional basket of sweet rolls, candies, flowers or fruits was unconditionally the highlight of her day.

Quickly after taking up residence on the outskirts of the Shire, Saraen fell into the routine of waking up before dawn. A brisk walk, check on Magnus, have breakfast with Bilbo.

The dwarves were... Hungover to say the least.

Groans filled the tiny room, which felt all the more cramped in the stale air and morning light.

Having woken up perfectly alert as a result of her fast metabolism, the ranger had been able to escape the morning graces of stinking men.

Now outside and basking in the fresh scent of the tulips, she huddled closer into the large woolen cloak. She quickly -yet carefully- checked her saddle-bags for all of her weapons before swinging gracefully up onto her black horse Magnus. She turned around and trotted down the stone path back to the neat road. Saraen loved her horse like he was her child. Which some might say was weird, but she had raised this horse from a foal with the help of her older brother and she helped raise his. Taking a deep breath she pushed away the thoughts of her dead family members. Sara thought about the upcoming journey, it sounded like a song that children could sing along with a game. But what if she died? Not that Saraen feared death, no, she feared for the people around her. What of all the things she might never be able to experience if she died. Children, a husband, or a permanent home? But she already knew the consequences of her being a ranger. When her brother joined she new she had to join. Lord Elrond had advised against it and asked her to consider the future; And she had, but she wanted to be like her brother and their father before her.

Tearing herself from her thoughts Saraen decided to head back to  Bilbo's. Would the dwarves wonder where she went? But the thought that stuck out more predominantly was whether or not her dear hobbit would be joining the quest. She turned and quickened her pace back and ignored the mass of her rich dark hair that flew into face.

When she returned to the hobbits house she found the dwarves mounted on their ponies and waiting for... HER?! She was always ready early! Saraen dropped the reins and sat pretending to be looking at the scenery while waiting for what she new was coming. And sure enough! She was right.

"Where have you been my dear!" Gandalf exclaimed from his horse.

Fili and Kili rode up to her, Fili smiled and nodded in greeting but kept his trap shut while Kili couldnt wait to start talking. "Yeah, uncle's been in a right state, he's been waiting for Boggins for at least 10 minutes". A grin appeared on her face as he said Boggins.

Fili cut in here "and to uncle, that's basically hours! Come on, lets get back before uncle freaks-" Too late.

"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? We have wasted enough time on hobbits and rangers." he grumbled the last part but still audible that with ranger trained ears that he so cursed. Since Saraen was closest to the road she ended up leading them out of Baggend much to Thorins evident displeasure, but  she just held her head high and rode strong. Once they were out of Baggend she waited for the rest of the men to ppass her and she rode at the back in between Fili and Kili.

After about 5 minutes Kili got bored and puffed out his cheeks and asked "So, do you think he'll be coming?"

"Bilbo?" fili questioned. Yes Fee. Of course, who else?

Then as if he read her mind Kee responded "No fee, I mean cousin dain. Of course I mean Bilbo!" and just to add to his point he reached around Sara and slapped his brother upside the head. She ducked just in time to dodge Fili's smack headed for his brothers skull. But before it could get out of hand she grabbed their forearms as they each reached around at the same time to slap each other again.

"Hey! I feel like you guys are gonna knock me off my horse at this rate, ok?" Saraen exclaimed.

The boys nodded but clearly they felt otherwise as they jerked their arms down and backwards at the same time and flung her off her horse.

"BLOODui udún!"  She shouted as she landed on her back in the dirt. The men stopped and turned around as they heard this shout from Saraen.

"Sara! Do not use such language! Its very ru-" the wizard tried to scold her seriously but he burst out laughing. She rolled her eyes but was still irritated.

"What did she say?" the question seemed to echo throughout the line.  But Bofur called back "You alright lass?" to her. "I will be!" she returned.

Sara jumped up, brushed herself off and walked in between Fili and Kili's horses, grabbed the boys cloak hoods and before they knew it they had been flipped off the backs of their own horses. They let out their own yelps and curses in khuzdul. This time the whole line of men laughed and Thorin gave a small grin. When the boys the boys brushed them selves off they asked in unison "Truce?" Hmm... "I will truce. But magnus doesnt have to.  Magnus! Get Hain!" She called to her horse, dutifully following the comand, Magnus chased the boys through the forest for a solid two minutes until she called out "Rinn-!" Magnus trotted up to her and she popped an apple slice in his mouth. From atop her horse she called down to the Kili, "Are you still bored Kili?"
