Saraen immediately reached towards Bilbo as she fell but his face disappeared from her sight. Remembering her training she prepared for the inevitable landing, "Brace your knees!" she called to the flailing company. She saw a flutter of green next to her and made eye-contact with Thorin, who wore sad and angry eyes.
The company fell to the hard ground but were given no rest, for they were instantly surrounded by Goblins. 'Oh for Valar sake', annoying little buggers were the goblins. Saraen cursed herself for not realizing the obvious trap, or at least even looking for one. She towered above the dwarves and goblins, so clearly they counted her as their biggest threat.
Saraen knew the politics and traditions of every race and tribe of middle earth, so when 8 goblins surrounded her she didnt struggle. And she ignored the shocked cries of confusion and despair from the dwarves. But survival was the main concern, and nothing else. In the language of the Goblins she stated, "Give me your purpose here friends, I wish to make no quarrel with you.". The tallest one spoke up as they continued ushering the company away.
"It was you o' Ranger who appeared upon our door, it should be you who states your purpose.", surprisingly cordial. Thorin was dragged to her and he shot her a confused and demanding stare, "Agree with whatever I say, understood? No matter what happens." she whispered. He instensified his stare.
"I will not-" he protested. She cut him off, "Listen to me Durin, if the company is to survive you will do whatever I say.". The gears of her quick mind were turning to formulate a plan.
Saraen was forced to the back of the company and when she struggled forwards the goblins pushed her to her knees. While the dwarves had their weapons stripped, hers had not been. The dwarves were dragged closer and closer until they were finally at the feet of the King of Slime himself. Inwardly Saraen rolled her eyes at him, such a bugger, she thought.
"Who dares come armed into my kingdom?!" he growled. Then in a more concerned and higher pitch he screeched, "Spies? Theives! Assasains?!".
The goblin who she spoke to earlier spoke up, "Dwarves, your malevolence!". It was as if she had been forgotten about, Saraen actually felt quite put out. But that was soon sqaushed when the Goblin next added, "And a woman.".
"Dwarves!" he bellowed again, "Search them, every crack, every crevice. And a woman you say? Bring her to me!". While she limped forward she squeezed Kili's hand as she went by. The Ranger stood with a straight back and her hands clasped behind. The woman then bowed deeply with her hand outsretched, "My lord.".
Seemingly satisfied with her manners for the meanwhile the Goblin nodded at her and she was then sharply dragged away and thrown to the ground at Thorins feet. Her head connected with the ground, and when Thorin helped her up his eyes narrowed slightly at the bleeding wound by her temple.
The Goblin king turned his attention back to the dwarves and began questioning them. "What are you doing in these parts? Speak!". The dwarves shuffled their feet and remained silent.
"Fine! If they will not talk, we'll make them squak!" he cried happily. Cheers errupted from the goblins, hungry for entertainment. "Bring up the mangler, bring up the bone breaker! Start with the youngest." he finished grimly, pointing to young Ori. Before Saraen could do anything Thorin interupted with a cry of "WAIT.".
"Well, well, well. Look who it is, Thorin, son of Thrain, son of Thror. King under the mountain." he hissed. Sara was on her feet now ready for the inevitable, "But I forgot, you don't have a mountain. And your not a king, so that makes you.. Nothing, really." The woman curled her fingers around her sword as he continued.
