"Nami! You're my friend!" Nami nodded her head and wiped the tears from her eyes. She couldn't believe that the man she tricked and used had helped her and saved her village. He even called her his friend. Her heart could barely contain the happiness she felt at that moment. But that didn't wash away the guilt she felt.

When the crew was separated, all Nami could think about was Luffy. When she had heard of Ace's death, her heart broke into pieces. It wasn't that she knew him very well, but she knew of one person who was very close to him. Luffy.

"I'm sorry, Luffy," she whispered. "I'm so sorry." Guilt began to weigh down her heart.

Now, two years have passed and the crew came together again. So much has happened over the years and everyone as gotten stronger, one way or another. But Nami still carried that guilt with her. The guilt of tricking Luffy and the guilt of being there for him. She'd put on a smile whenever she saw him and for a long a time, it started to feel like a routine. See Luffy and smile, day in and day out.

One night, Nami couldn't sleep and decided to walk around the deck. It was peaceful and the moon lit the sea up, casting a soft blue glow on everything. She walked over to the railing and leaned on it, looking off to some unknown place. Her mind began thinking about the guilt she carried. "I'm sorry," she whispered.

"What cha doin'?" Nami turned around to face her captain looking at her with a confused look.

"N-nothing," she stuttered. She mentally face-palmed at that. Luffy may be dim-witted but even he could see through that lie. "What are you doing?"

"My turn for the night watch. Hey, do you stay out here with me? I have something I want to talk to you about." Nami froze and didn't seem to breathe. Luffy looked at her, his eyes filled with worry. "Oi, are you okay?" he asked.

Nami broke out of whatever trance she was in and nodded her head. "Yeah, I'm. What  is that you wanted to talk to me about?" She smiled and Luffy frowned.

"Stop doing that," he said.

"Stop doing what?" she asked, her smile still in place.

"Pretending that you're happy," he answered. Nami's smile faded as she stared into her captain's eyes. They seemed to be filled with hurt and worry. Luffy took a step closer to his navigator and she took a step back. He stopped. "What's wrong?"

She waved in front of her and shook her head. "Nothing's wrong," she answered, a smile back on her face.

"Stop lying!" Again, Nami's smile faded away at the volume of Luffy's voice. Luffy started walking closer to her and Nami backed away until she couldn't anymore. He was now only a few centimeters away from her. "Why are you sad?" he asked, his voice quieter and gentler than before.

Nami stared into his eyes before she looked away, tears threatening to spill. "I'm sorry," she whispered. "For everything I've done ad haven't done."

"What do you mean?"Nami didn't answer for while. "Nami..."

"Luffy," she interrupted. Luffy looked at her waiting for her to finish. Nami opened her mouth, than closed it again and then opened it again. "You saved Cocoyashi Village even after I tricked you and used you. You called me your friend when I didn't deserve that title. And when your brother died, I couldn't be there to help you, like you helped me." Her voice was shaking and even. Her eyes were burning from the tears she tried to hold back. "I don't deserve to be called your friend."

Luffy didn't answer for a while, he just stared at the woman before him. He took a breath and sighed. Nami looked at him, her facial expression was confused. "What you are talking about? You more than deserve to be called my friend. You've always shown me the way when I needed it the most. And you may not have been able to help me when Ace died, but knowing I'd be able to see you again was more than enough for me." Luffy smiled at Nami and she looked at him, tears streaming down her face. It felt as if the weight in her heart was lifted as she began crying harder. Luffy wrapped his arms around her and she cried into his shoulder, the red fabric soaking up her tears.

After a few minutes of crying, Nami pulled away from Luffy and looked at him. "Thank you, Luffy," she said. She smiled and Luffy smiled back at her. "I fell better now."

"Shishishi, I'm gald," he said. Nami laughed with him, only to stop when he spoke again. "Promise you'll only smile when you're truly happy."

Nami stared at him before smiling. "Alright, I promise."
