Reader's Note

The image you see is what I imagine Daniel Shaw looks like, of course it's not a carbon copy but this is just so you can get a visual!

I hope you enjoy this chapter!

Now let's get to it, shall we?

Ugh today was the day. October 28, 2018.

to be fair, the meeting had been delayed not once, not twice, but three times! By the time the first due date came, almost no one had finished their assigned tasks, and I mean, what were the editors going to do, if they didn't have anything to edit. But finally, the day had come!

The day had gone by relatively quickly. Which was cool but not so cool at the same time. I was a ball of nerves, I was so nervous. You know that moment when you keep imagining scenarios and then the actual event comes and you just have your head filled with all these fantasies? What am I saying, this probably doesn't make any sense at all.

I slowly walked into anthro. Mia was already at her desk looking through her notes. We had a test today, and that definitely did not make things any better. I slid onto my chair taking out my pencil and eraser. Typically I chose not to look at any of my notes an hour before a test, it was a type of ritual for me so I didn't get overwhelmed. Ms. Chambers came in with a handful of tests, it looked like it was several pages long, which only made me more anxious. Tests definitely weren't my thing, I preferred essays to tests any day.

The tests were handed out and Ms. Chambers had started the timer. We had until the bell to finish the test. I flipped through the pages looking at what to do first. I started working on the long answer question first. I realized that time had begun to slow down while I was writing, it felt like an eternity. But then again, I was grateful for that. The more time I had to prepare for god knows what.

As I was nearing the final section of the test, I glanced at the clock noticing that there was only 15 minutes left! I gasped. Looking down, I noticed that it was only multiple choice. I sighed and worked my way through the questions. With only a minute left to the bell, I handed in my test, feeling quite confident of my answers. But then reality hit... the bell also signalled the start of the editing meeting.

I left the class and slowly made my way across the hall, as the meeting was taking place in the same department. Mia and I stood out the door while the other editors came, Alex soon arrived and we began catching up.

It was 3:25 and there was still no sign of Shaw? Maybe he had forgotten about the meeting but I assumed that was highly unlikely. Just as I was about to ask Alex of his whereabouts he turned around the corner gasping for breath, "Sorry guys, I was in the portable and had a student writing a make-up test."

He opened the door and we all found our seats. Like the fool that I was, I sat at the desk that was closest to the teacher's desk which was also where he had been sitting. I looked over at him and noticed his attire. He was wearing navy blue pants and a blue button up top, over that was a brown cardigan that was buttoned up. He was also wearing glasses. I found that his glasses accentuated his eyes, which I found myself getting lost in, so gentle and calm. He rolled on over to the middle of the classroom where he began asking how things were going to get done. We explained that first we were going to edit the paper copies of all the articles and then transfer those edits to a digital copy that was on a hard drive Alex had. He concluded that we knew what we were doing and that he'd be happy to help edit. He picked up a few articles and dropped it at our table, and took some for himself which he had begun to work on at his desk.
