Maddison
"Just screw off, Alton," I hiss, turning my back. I can't even look at him right now.
"Maddison, please just look at me. I can explain-"
"No you can't!" I cut him off, screaming now. He looks hurt. Well good, he should be. There's no way in hell he could be more hurt than me right now and he deserves everything he gets.
"It was a mistake!" He tries to defend himself. I snort.
"A mistake? A mistake?! Damn right it was a mistake, but this is the second time, Alton!" I scream, storming up to him. I plant my feet to stand centimetres away from his body. So much rage flushes through me that I don't feel scared at all.
"It won't happen again, Maddison!" He yells in my face. I can feel his saliva splattering on me. I cringe. His hands clench into fists. All the pain in his eyes shatters, replaced with anger.
"That's what you said last time! God, I was so stupid to think you wouldn't do it again!" I clutch the sides of my head, pulling at my hair. I stagger back a few steps. He narrows his eyes and glares at me.
"It won't. Don't you dare-"
"Don't I dare what? Break up with you?" I ask. I'm surprised by my voice. It's no longer a scream reflecting how I feel, but a quiet, cracked whimper.
"Don't do it. It won't happen again. It was a mistake! Come on Maddison, I love y-"
"No! Shut up! Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up! You don't! You never have and you never will! Now go away!" My voice returns to a scream, cracking in anger.
"Maddison! Would you shut the fuck up and listen to me?!" Alton lunges forward and clamps his strong hands onto the sides of my arms, squeezing. I freeze, as pain shoots up my arms.
"Ow, Alton, you're hurting m-"
"Shut up, Maddison. I'm talking," he slams my back into the wall and puts both of his hands on either side of me. There's no escape. My anger and pain are diminished by fear flooding through me. Real fear. I've never seen this side of Alton before.
"No-"
"Shut up! Jennifer was a mistake! A stupid, fucking mistake! And Bailey was just fucking hormones today, Maddison! It's not like you're helping me out much! But it won't happen again, I swear. You're better than her. So much better-"
"No! I'm done, Alton. Go away," I drop my eyes to the ground, scared to look him in the eye.
"Look at me, Maddison," he hisses. I keep my eyes glued to his shoes. "Look at me, you dumbass," he snarls. His hand grasps my throat and he pushes my head back to meet my eyes. I choke and gasp for air.
"Al- Alton, you're hur- hurting me," I wheeze.
"I don't give a shit! You're mine and only mine. No one else's. You do what I say and only what I say. You. Are. Mine. You're not allowed to break up with me. Do you understand?" He's so close that his spit flies in my face again. I stay quiet. He pulls at my hair, but doesn't say anything. For a moment, there's a silence hanging in the air. Then a deep growl escapes Alton's throat.
Suddenly, his hand is slapping my face.
I stand, jaw dropped staring at him. Nothing goes through my mind. All I can do is gaze in horror at Alton's red hand hovering in the air in front of me.
"Do you understand?!" He screams, his voice cracking in rage, wanting an answer to his question. I stay quiet again, hardly able to process what he's saying.
