Maddison
"Wake up!" Alexa screams in my ear. I jolt awake and karate chop the air above me.
"Ahhhh!" I give a war cry, punching and kicking nothing but the air. Alexa and Roxy burst into giggles. After they calm down, Alexa pokes me with her thin finger and says,
"We have to get up! Classes start in 10 minutes!" She waves her lanky arms excitedly in the air. I groan and reluctantly roll off the bed.
"Whhhhyyyyyy?" I complain.
"Because!" Roxy shouts, not really giving me a real explanation. They're both just completely excited.
"Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on!" Alexa babbles. I stand up, yawning and extending my arms. A navy blue and dark red plaid skirt hits my face.
"When did you-"
"I've already been to the office to pick them up for all 3 of us!" Alexa squeals. I blink. God I need some of this girls energy.
"Put it on!" Roxy shoves me into the bathroom, throwing a white button up blouse and navy blazer over my shoulder. She closes the door behind me.
I wash my face with cold water to wake up, then I get dressed quickly. I'm barely a step out the bathroom door before Alexa is dragging me out the dorm room door. I manage to grab my bag with a change of clothes, some books and shoes before Roxy slams the door.
The two of them can't go fast enough. We're sprinting down the hall at nearly max speed to get to class. I have no idea where I am, only following these two.
"Is Mr T doing it?" Roxy asks.
Doing what? I think.
"That's what he said yesterday. He couldn't flip it until Maddison and Wyatt knew. And now they know," Alexa giggles. Roxy pumps her fist in the air and keeps running. I sigh and pick up my pace to match theirs.
Soon, we're in the foyer. The white walls tower upwards, and the trophy cases shine. Mr T and most of the class already stand waiting by the front door.
No, by that little silver box by the front door.
Alexa, Roxy and I join everyone. Two minutes later, the guys show up, completing the class. Mr T unlocks the box with a little silver key.
"Ready, everyone?" Mr T's eyes twinkle. Even he seems overly excited. I glance at Wyatt who looks just as confused as I am.
Then Mr T presses a button inside.
And that's when the ground starts to shake.
The walls flip into themselves, spinning on hidden tracks. The trophy cases slip into the walls and different ones pop out. Posters and banners are pulled into the roof and historical tapestries and family trees are dropped down in their place. At the back of the foyer, behind the staircase, and also at the top of it, the wall twists and fireplaces are left behind. The walls are white and clean. The stair banister is polished and dark. The trophy cases are glass and sleek. Everything looks so sharp.
The school I'd walked into two days ago is gone. It's old feel has been replaced with a modern cover. Completely covered up by this, or maybe... maybe this was covered up by the other school before?
"Wow!" I gasp, spinning in a circle to take in the sights. The others squeal gleefully that everything looks like this. Wyatt looks just as amazed as I am.
"Ooh, I'm so glad it's back to normal!" Alexa sighs, like a weight has been lifted off her shoulders.
So I guess it was covered up before. Huh.
