Chapter 18

"Are you kidding me?" were the only words that escaped my lips. Chad looked away with hard and a bit desperate eyes.

"I knew it. I'm sorry Britney for rushing you but I thought...I thought that you wanted this, to be free of this life like a spider's messy web," Chad winced.

"Chad, um, I'm not really sure if I want to run away, think about how it will affect mom or any of our friends," I reasoned. 

Chad looked at me and lifted his hands and cupped my face."I care about no ones feeling deeply but yours. Always," he said then kissed me deeply. After a minute we stopped since we needed to breath. I wanted to kiss him all day but I had to admit to myself that I was a whole lot depressed to do anything. Chad asked me to run away with him, if I'd say yes the rational part of me would think that Chad was insane however my feelings for him made me think that this was okay and that it was the best idea anyone has ever come up with. Honsetly I doubted Chad for a bit because mom had seriously good connections with powerful people these days. Let's say I ran off with Chad for a day but then I know sooner or later someone would catch us and bring me back to mom. And my friends would think I'm crazy. But I loved Chad more than anything else in this world, but I just can't risk anything...yet.

"I don't know what to say honestly," I said not meeting his eyes.

"What if I told you that I'd propose to you," my head shot up and my eyes widened as I saw Chad's super serious expression.

"What?! Are you serious?!"

"Do I look like I'm kidding?"

"Okay, okay, oh gosh,"

He got out of the couch and shrugged of the comfroter around him and knelt down on one knee. He fished out a small blue box in his right pocket and held it out for me. What I saw inside the blue box shocked me so much that tears were streaming down my face.

"Britney I'll always love you, you are the only girl I want to spend the rest of my life with...will you" he gulped."will you marry me?"

I was at lost for words so I nodded while tears streamed continously down my face. He got up slowly as he slid the diamond ring in my ring finger. I engulfed him in a tight bear hug as I smiled.

"Whew. Thanks for saying yes Brit," Chad said looking and sounding relieved.

"No problem, honey," I winked then gave him a peck on the lips.

"Now about that running away..."

My eyes widened as his face fell."Uh well I'm still not sure about that. Chad please understand but I'm not really ready. Can't we just wait until my mom calls me to go back to Halter," I suggested.

"How long do you think it will take?" he asked.

I shrugged knowing I didn't know how long I'll be staying here. "I'm not really sure. Are there still rumors or anything like that about me or even the incident?" I asked.

"Yeah a bit only but I think by the end of another month the incident will die down...unless someone twists it all around and create another weird rumor," Chad said.

"How is my mom?" I asked.

"She's doing fine actually but she misses you a lot," 

"What about Nana and Bryan?"

"They're doing a bit fine but just depressed that you aren't there back in Halter, they threatened everyone who dared to make even an ounce of rumor about you,"

"Really that's so sweet of them and I miss them a whole lot too! And how about you? How are things back in Halter for you?"

"Depressing. Every girl whose crazy about Keith totally hates me. I'm already labeled as a rebel as far as I know-"
