After the....events of the past hour, I fell asleep with my head on Dally's chest.
It was the first time I've fallen asleep on him in a month. I'm not sure how long I slept for, but Anne was home and Dally was working on a coloring book with her.I quickly got out of bed and put on a soft night-gown.
I made my way downstairs to see Anne sitting on the kitchen counter mixing a bowl of what looked like cake batter. Dally was stood at the sink washing flour off of his hands.
"Hello, Darrienne. Nice to see that you have finally woken up to attend to your family."
He said in a cold, distant tone.
I rolled my eyes and walked into a wall while making my way to the living room. I held my forehead in my hand with my head down until I sat on the couch.Dally walked in, holding Anne close to his side. He took a seat next to me with Anne on his lap. He leaned over and whispered so only I could hear, "What is wrong with you? You're acting like I fucked you with a hot Cheeto. Calm down."
I gasped at the crude words that left his mouth.
"What time is it?" I asked.
"It's 5, and i need to leave for work soon."
Dally said still annoyed because of me.He sat Anne on my lap and got up. I picked up the book "Will and the Sage" off of the coffee table. Anne always loved it when I read to her. I held the small childrens book in my hand and flipped to the second page.
About ten minutes later I heard a knock on the door. Anne got off of my lap and sat on the couch looking at the pictures in the book. When I opened the door I was met with the face of my good friend, Charlene. She was wearing a white dress, flats, and her favorite jean jacket.
I invited her in and we walked to the kitchen to get something to drink. Immediately after we got to the kitchen she put her left hand up.
"Steve finally proposed!" she squealed.
We sat at the barstools by the counter to continue our chat.
Charlene only met Steve because of Johnny, its almost like shes betraying him."You're really over Johnny. He only died two years ago." I asked.
"I see Johnny everytime I close my eyes. If I could bring him back I would, but I can't. Right now I need to do what's good for me and my family." she responded, a tear falling from her eye.
"Doesn't it feel like your hurting him? I mean, he loved you with all his heart, and your gonna marry one of his best friends."Right as I said that the door slammed open, I guess we were talking for longer than I thought.
Dally walked into the kitchen with a smile on his face, but when his eyes caught Charlene's his smile dropped.
"Get out." He said quietly.
"Dally please." I pleaded with him to not do this to one of my only friends.
"I said get out!" He shouted this time.
Charlene grabbed her bag and practically raced out the door."Why do you do that? Why do you feel the need to take my friends away from me and isolate me from my family?" I whimpered.
"That girl is not your friend. Do you have any idea what she did to johnny? Of course you don't. Charlene was the reason he died. Johnny was only trying to redeem himself in her eyes. He loved her so damn much, and she has the audacity to marry Steve.
All Charlene ever does is talk about how she misses Johnny, but she doesn't really care. Johnny was everything to me, hell the only reason I didn't die right when he did was because I have to support the people I love, Anne and...you." He said, his words getting quieter at the end.
