I saw him try to stand and his knees were wobbly. My mom burst through the door to find me on the floor and him standing over me. She did something that I wish she would have been able to do with dad all those years ago, she pushed him away and he fell back onto his bed with wide eyes. He looked utterly stunned. The woman who always let him in her house and looked at him like a son just pushed him. Mom grabbed my arm and I flinched slightly. I stood and leaned on her as she gave Dally a dirty look. I couldn't raise my head to look him in the eye. The last thing I saw of him was his legs and his shorts.
When we left the hospital and got in the car I crumbled into the seat and held my head in my hands.
The drive back to moms house was silent and slightly uncomfortable. She kept stealing glances at me until we pulled into the driveway. When we finally got into the house Cole was sitting in the living-room with Anne on his lap as they watched cartoons. He twirled her hair in his fingers and when he saw us he stopped. Anne trotted over to me and grabbed my knees; hugging me tightly. I could hear mom talking to Cole in the kitchen asking why he didn't call. His only response was, "It's a child not a rabid dog. I didn't need any help." I smiled to myself as I remembered how he had always been so headstrong. Anne reached for the air, indicating that she wanted me to pick her up. I lifted her up and put her on my hip as I carried her into the room we were staying in. I sat her on the bed, kissed her forehead, and told her that I'll be back to tuck her in. When I walked back into the living-room I asked mom if I could use the phone. When she had nodded her head I walked into the kitchen and dialed a number. Ashton's home phone. It rang a couple times before anyone picked up. When the voice came through it wasn't Ashton. A high pitched female one was heard. Her voice slightly gravely, she had clearly just woken up. "Hello?" She questioned, obviously wondering who could be calling at this hour. "Is Ashton home? I heard what happened to him." I said even though I had no idea what had actually happened to him. Her voice came through the receiver again, "If you did know what happened to him you would know that after that psychopath beat the ever-loving Christ out of him he went to the bar to nurse his wounds with alcohol like he always does." I could just feel myself heating up in rage after she called Dally a psychopath. "I'm sorry to hear that, but do you know what bar he's at?" I pressed for more information. "Try 'Holly's' that's the only one I've ever seen him go to." I muttered a quick thank you before putting the phone down.
I practically ran out of the house, once again leaving Anne with my mom. Cole tried to ask me where I was going , but I was already gone before he could finish speaking. I climbed into my car once again, hopefully the last time tonight. I pulled out of the driveway and drove to "Holly's".
When I pulled into the parking lot my eyes gravitated towards Ashton's car. I walked into the bar having to show my I.D. before I was allowed in. I saw the back of Ashton's blonde haired head. I slowly walked to him, being cautious as I had only been in a bar one time before. I sat on the tall bar-stool next to him and tapped his shoulder. His eyes widened as he looked at me. I saw bruises around his eyes and cuts all down his neck. His arms were covered with scratches and his cheeks looked bruised even worse than his eyes. He spoke before I could even open my mouth, "Why didn't you tell me? Why did you hide that you were having my baby from me. I should have been the first person you told, not that low-life Dallas." I winced at him saying the baby was his. I was finally able to say something, "I still don't know who the baby's dad is." Ashton looked hurt at my words as he said, "If the baby's mine I want it to be named Christopher if it's a boy and Natalie if it's a girl. I want you to know that if the baby is mine then I will divorce Cena and you, Anne, Allen, our little angel, and I can go to New York. I can get my old job back and we can build a family, a life. You won't ever have to deal with Dally or anything that makes you unhappy. I will give you everything you ever wanted. I still love you, I always have and I always will. Please just say yes. You don't have to say anything yet. You can give me your answer when the baby's born." He finished his beer then walked out without saying another word.
