When I woke up Dally was already gone and a note was left on the nightstand, "Hey Darienne, I scheduled a doctors appointment for you." At the bottom of the note was a phone number, presumably the doctors number. When I finally managed to get out of bed and make my way downstairs I was met with another note on the refrigerator, "I know, I probably should have just wrote this on the other one but, I made you breakfast. It's in the oven to keep it warm. I took Anne over to Darry's house, you know how close she is to his son. I wanted you to just take it easy today." I took the note down and tossed it into the trash. I looked into the oven and pulled the tray of food out. Sure enough Dally had made Pancakes, I can't remember the last time that he cooked. I sat down at the table and took a bite, immediately I remembered why I don't let Dally cook. tossed that in the trash too just as I had with the note. I decided to call the doctors office to check the time the appointment was at. To my surprise it was scheduled for after Dally got home from work. I decided to spend the day catching up on my reading.
After what I assume was a few hours a knock at the door startles me. I walk over to the door and slowly press the handle down. When I see who's there my heart stops; Ashton. I look down and he is carrying a small red leather book in his hands. I look back up at him and he speaks, "I thought I would come talk to you before the baby is born so I could show you some of the pictures of me as a baby so you know what to expect." I shook my head as I was about to speak but the words wouldn't come out before he pushed his way into the house. Ashton plopped himself down on the couch before opening the book to a picture of his father holding him as a baby. I sat beside him as he flipped through the photo album occasionally pointing and explaining some long story. As we got to the end of the album he showed a picture of when he had just been born. He started to drone on about what his childhood was like. I got up from the couch and walked over to the bookshelf. I took the big one off of the top shelf, I had to stand on my tip-toes to reach it. I opened it as I sat down next to Ashton. He looked over and began to ask, "What's that?" My response was, "I thought since you were so nice as to show me photos of your past I thought I would too." I opened the book to a photo of mine and Dally's wedding. I could see Ashton gasp as I flipped to the next page of Dally hugging my mom and brothers. Ashton got up and walked out without saying another word. Feeling triumphant I put the photo album away and sat back down to read my book again. Not ten minutes later I heard another knock on the door. Once again I got up and opened the door. I was met with Darry, Anne, and his son Zach. Anne and Zach were play-fighting toward the end of the porch. I smiled up at Darry and he engulfed me in a hug. When Zach noticed the door was open he and Anne raced in and up to Anne's room. I ushered Darry in and asked, "Do you want coffee or anything?" He didn't respond with anything just sat down and studied the cover of the book I was reading. My cheeks blushed bright red when I realized that I was reading a really cheesy romance novel with a cover of a shirtless man and his hair was blowing in the wind. Darry smirked up at me and said, "Dally not giving you any?" My eyes widened at his statement as I snatched the book out of his hands and hid it behind the other books on the shelf. Zach and Anne come downstairs and Zach trips and gets rug burn on his knees. He starts crying and Darry races to pick him up. Darry waves a quick goodbye before disappearing out the door again.
