"Kris!!! Wake up!! We have visitors!!" Katie screamed in my ear, and I just swatted at her with the pillow. I didn't want to move. "Come on, Kris, get your lazy ass up, Patrick's here!!!" Katie yelled again, wacking me over the head with something soft and bristly. "WHAT THE HELL KATIE?!?! I'm awake, alright? Jesus, what in hell did you hit me with?" I snarled, sitting up and glaring at my best friend. She was holding a broom, looking as though she might come after me with it. She had obviously showered and changed while I was sleeping. I sighed and rubbed my head. "Is Patrick really here right now?" I asked and she shook her head, grinning evilly. "I was thinking it would get you up and moving... It worked too!! But he will be coming up with the rest of the boys in about an hour, so I figured you'd want to be dressed and prepared, plus we have to order some food." Katie chuckled and I rolled my eyes. "You are correct... But Josh is gonna be pissed at you." I said and she turned her head, confused. "What for?" "Unless you called him while I was sleeping, we never called him after we got to the apartment." I teased and she screeched before running off to find her phone. My own devilish smile graced my face before I rushed to the shower in my own bedroom. I made sure I grabbed my suitcase before I leapt into the steaming pulse of water. I sighed as the water soothed. All too soon, I got out of the shower and tried to decide what to wear. I ended up just sticking with the normal destructed jeans and a long sleeved blue shirt. I padded out into the living area to find Katie setting up some plates and silverware, with a huge tray of Chinese sitting on the table in front of the T.V. "Josh says hi and he approves." Katie said as I scooped up a pile of napkins to place next to the dishes. "Cool. Nice to know he likes Patrick. I think you're right, he's perfect." I sighed, walking to the fridge and grabbing a Coke Zero. Katie wrinkled her nose at me as I took a sip. "What?" I asked. "I so do not know how you and Josh drink that shit." Katie laughed and the door bell rang. I walked to the door and grinned as I saw the boys. "Hey guys, come on in!!" I giggled as Pete bowed and Andy kicked him forward. "Don't try and steal Patrick's chick, bro. That's not cool." Andy muttered before waving cheerily at me. I smiled a little wider at their antics. Joe ambled past, nodding. Patrick was last, one hand nervously playing with his glasses, the other holding a bag. "Here, I got this as a housewarming gift... Be warned, Andy's girlfriend will be here soon, and it's gonna be a little crazy in here when she shows up." Patrick chuckled before leaning in and kissing my cheek delicately. When he pulled away we were both blushing fiercely. I took the bag and ushered Patrick inside. We headed into the living room, where everyone was settling in with plates of Chinese. I grabbed a couple plates, handing one to Pat, before digging in. I sat next to Katie, and we all started talking about little stuff, everything from the food, to Canada, Chicago, and my favorite, music. It was about fifteen minutes after the boys arrived that there was a knock at the door and Andy stood with a huge smile. "That'll be my baby girl." Andy said cheerfully and strod off to get the door. I shook my head in amusement. Andy opened the door and I heard a familiar Texas accent. "Well, what's cooking, good looking? Hi y'al!" Tina said after she was done making out with Andy in our doorway. I arched an eyebrow at Andy, who shrugged. I rolled my eyes and kept eating. Tina followed Andy to the couch and snuggled onto his lap. I smiled when I watched the tenderness between the two. It wasn't long until we were all bored and Patrick noticed my guitar cases lined up on the back wall. "You play?" He asked and I chuckled. "No, I just have the cases for decoration." I replied sarcastically. He nudged me with his shoulder. "Can I hear? I bet you're awesome." Patrick murmured, looking at me with those deep green eyes. Katie giggled. "She is. She sings too, quite beautifully... Although she doesn't think so." Katie said and I shot her a glare. "Come on, play for us. Please?" Pete whined, dropping to his knees in front of me with huge puppy dog eyes. I laughed out loud before consenting. I paced over to my guitars, pulling out my acoustic and tuning it quickly. I dragged a stool from the kitchen into the living room and perched myself on it, balancing the guitar across my knee. I tested the tuning again before I took a deep breath and started to play. My fingers stroked up the frets, plucking out the melody Josh and I had been working with before we left. I played the opening notes and let my voice loose. I lock the door And Turn all the water on Bury that sound So no one hears anything anymore Mirror lie to me, Tell me you can see Maybe you won't be able to recognize me now I know you can feel, All the things you steal And you're taking, And you're taking it Feeling so easy, Make me skin & bones I'm always on my knees for you Break it like it's even, When you're leaving and Thin Where the hell have you been? Well sometimes it burns, Maybe I'll wash it out It all looks so big Nevermind, I don't feel anything It only hurt a bit And I still feel like shit And I think you won't be able to recognize me now It's easier to quit, It's harder to admit And you're pushing me, You're fucking pushing me Feeling so easy, Make me skin & bones I'm always on my knees for you Break it like it's even, When you're leaving and Thin Where the hell have you been? 'Cause you always win You always win Laughing like it works Bleeding like it dont hurt Knock you off your feet Even if you need me Tear you apart, I hate how I need you Feeling too easy, Make me skin & bones Im always on my knees for you Break it like its even When you're leaving It's too fucking easy Make me skin and bones I'm always on my knees for you Break it like it's even, When you're leaving and Thin Where the hell have you been? You always win I will burn all this I finished the song and the room was silent. "Holy shit." I heard Pete say softly. Patrick stood, crossed the room, and kissed me. I kissed him back for maybe a half second before he pulled away sharply. His eyes were glittering with emotion, and lust was obvious. Tina sighed and wiped at her eyes. "Hon, you have a gorgeous voice. I want to you tour with my boys here. Or at least record with them!" Tina said, and I shook my head smiling as I put the guitar away. "No ma'am, I don't think I will. I'm frightfully shy, and don't want that type of attention." I muttered, shoving my black and purple bangs out of my eyes. I turned to look at Katie, who was shaking with suppressed emotion. She knew Josh had written the lyrics, with minimal help from me, although I had been the first person to hear it. Pete wrapped his arms around her and she curled into his chest. Patrick stood by the stool, and watched my every move with fascination. My cell started to ring and I raced to my room to get it. "Yo?" I answered smoothly, hiding any and all emotion in my voice. "HIIIII KRIS!!!!" Josh screamed into my ear. I winced. "Ow. Hey, bro. What's up?" I asked, chuckling. "Well, Katie called earlier and told me you guys crashed hard after you got there, so I forgive you for not calling earlier. And I just got done selling off the crap ton of furniture you guys had me unnecessarily bring down." Josh snorted and I groaned. "Okay, well, we didn't realize Tina was going to furnish the damn place!! And thanks. We have a bit of a surprise when you get here, about how far out of Vancouver are you?" I asked and I heard him chuckle. "I'm currently driving through a town called Bezeman, Montana." Josh said and I sighed. "Not too far then! Only about another 13 or so hours, right?" I laughed and I heard his own moan. "Yes, unfortunately!" Josh teased and we exchanged good byes. I tossed my phone back down on my bed and turned to find Patrick in the doorway. "Um... Hi?" I whispered nervously. He smiled and came to sit next to me. "Was that your brother?" Patrick asked, taking my hand. I nodded, grinning. "Kind of. We've known each other since we were four, and we treat each other like brother and sister... He was there for me when I needed someone the most. He always has been. We went through some tough shit together. It was him that got me your CD actually..." I said softly. It was weird just how comfortable with Patrick I was. After everything I'd gone through, I was quite paranoid. "Look, Kris... Can I say something that I really hope won't sound weird?" Patrick murmured. "Yeah... Of course." I breathed. "I think you're beautiful. Like, really truly beautiful. I want to get to know you, and eventually, I think I'm going to want to date you." Patrick said, barely audible. I lifted his chin so he was looking at me. "I want to date you. I really do. Patrick, you are an amazing person, at least from what I know right now. I want to understand you the same way you want to know me. I think... I think I could fall in love with you." I smiled, a bit tearful, knowing he'd never notice how the last piece was a lie. I knew I'd never fall for anyone but Matt.
