Chapter 9: Feeling Whitney

Things had been going a lot better than expected with my life in general, my bond with Hayes was growing stronger hell I could call him my best friend by now. The movie was half way done, with the deadline coming near and it's premiere viewing everything seemed so different in general, like I'd finally done something right before. Hayes had become to busy with his book coming out, he told me it was based on someone he had known to love before or what he thought he loved who had just used him. He wouldn't go into a lot of details about the book either as he didn't want me to tell anyone I knew that would tell someone else.

Hayes and I were planning on having lunch together, simply telling me to dress nicely because he had two big announcements for me. I had no clue as to what he actually wanted from me but I had decided on going with a yellow flow dress with a black hat. I checked to make sure I looked presentable before going out to meet Hayes. He honked three times before I stepped outside, wind flowing through giving me sort of a Marilyn Monroe moment for me to hold down my dress. I quickly ran over towards the car hopping in, noticing that we were running 7 minutes late giving me some sort of anxiety. Hayes quickly stepped on the gas racing through the streets to make sure we got to the restaurant in time, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze and smile as we raced through the streets.

Hopping out of the car both is running to the restaurant Hayes quickly tells the person at the front who we're exactly here for, before walking outside we both stop at a mirror. We both readjusts ourselves in the mirror making sure we looked presentable for whatever Hayes had prepared, him nodding to himself I give him a punch in the arm having him jump back giving a pained look at me. "That's what you get for almost making us late Grier Jesus what am I going to do with you?" I told him as I rolled my eyes.

He rolled his eyes at me and proceeded to walk towards a table with multiple men's in suits looking as if they were in the mafia. One of the men looked me up and down before getting hit by another giving a small grunt as Hayes pulled out a chair for me next to him. The older looking gentlemen at the table motioned a waiter to bring us drinks and food, asking what we wanted Hayes decided to answer for me. I kicked him under the table and then motioned for the waiter to come back. "Actually I change my mind, could I maybe have a steak with some fries on the side not seasoned with salt and a water thank you" I gave the waiter a smile before he hurried along.

Hayes gave me a snarky look about to whisper something in my ear before the older gentlemen cleared his throat and grabbed his champagne glass starting a speech. "To working with new better and healthier actors and actresses here is too the new face of our company, for a new movie we like to call Hidden starring the lovely Rose Velvet and Hayes Grier" he gave off a thick Spanish accent, he seemed to be Cuban.

Everyone gathered around Hayes and I congratulating us on the new movie, I stood sorta of in shock but acted as if I already knew about this proposition. People kept coming up to me giving me a tight hug or a firm handshake by the sudden news I had just received myself. Hayes gave me a cheerful smile by the chance of us getting to work together before he cleared his throat holding up his drink giving a toast himself as well.

"I know Leonel gave most of the announcement but I do have a surprise for Rose as well, I couldn't ask for a better best friend and honestly thank her for everything she's done for me so far. But her living situation isn't the best at the moment and I wouldn't just stand through for her to have to live in that apartment any longer, so I took it upon my self and got her a replica of the house keys that I live at with a few of my friends and well I wanted to know if you wanted to move in as well" raising his glass up to the air I gave him a nod as everyone applauded and cheered for me. I excused myself as everyone congratulated me on the new set of house keys as I moved to go find the bathroom.

I swing open the door to the women's bathroom and run over to the sink splashing water on my face, this could not be happening to me at all. Like what the hell does he think he's doing especially making a movie deal and thinking I needed help with my living situation. Hell my apartment was fine I didn't need anyone's pity about it and I get he was looking for my best intentions and all but that's not a decision you get to make hell, it's not even in your say so what the hell was Hayes thinking. And he clearly knew I wouldn't say anything that would damage the movie so throwing the little moving in thing was just a perfectly given time.

I gripped onto the sink as I became dizzy about everything I just processed waiting for the black view and everything to clear back into my normal vision before stepping out to where everyone else was. All sorts of people were talking to each other moving on to a different topic as Hayes wrapped an arm around my shoulders giving a slight side hug. I hissed at him as he smiled towards everyone else before giving me a confused look. "You've got some balls Grier for pulling shit like that, you better make it up to me for not asking about this first" as I shook his arm off of me.

People at the party started to whisper as a girl walked into the party, multiple people giving her a disgusted look, some giving her an pity party face, and some hugging her with a cheerful face. I walked up to Hayes pulling him into a tight hug to whisper into his ear that someone had just showed up to the event that seems to be causing a commotion. When Hayes turns around is when his world seems to stop turning as he quickly grabs for my hand.

"It's her Rose, she's here, what am I going to do" he says as his face turns white.

"Who's here Hayes? What are you talking about is everything ok? What's happening to you, you're turning whiter than you already are..." I asked him.

"The girl from my book, Violet*, the girl I had fallen in love with and had ditched me for everything" he whispered giving me a fearful look.

Oh how I was going to enjoy this little moment of truth as everything starts to come into sense.

*Violet- I decided to make a twist to Hayes book because why not I think the way he ended it was stereotypical so let's have Violet make a come back? I can't use her last name in the book just because it'd end up being copyrighted probably so let me not lol.
