Mitch's POV*Thirty minutes before*

"I love you, Mitch." Lilly said at the end of my hospital bed. "I love you so much. Please, please take me back." Lilly's blonde hair fell on the bed, and her blue eyes were filled with sorrow.

"Why should I?" I crossed my arms, enjoying the minute of silence she gave me.

"B-Because... I can start a rumor that you hit me and everyone will believe it! My mom's job is literally to spread gossip, so this is going to be gold to her ears. You know, unless you go out with me." She batted her eyelashes.

"Okay! Okay!" I exclaimed without hesitation. She kissed me, then skipped out of the room.

Maddie's POV*Present time*

Jerome and I sat elbow to elbow as we ate our ice cream. On occasion, we smiled at each other. But it was just so... Awkward.

I played with my feet. Making them cross then uncross, left foot above the right one and then right one above the left one. Just things that made the time go not as slow as it was going.

"So..." Jerome said, licking his ice cream cone.

"Yeah," I coughed, getting stares from strangers. "Let's just go home. I'll be waiting in the car." Jerome nodded his head.

I made my way to the car, latching my right hand onto the handle. Thinking I heard something, I stopped what I was doing and turned around, only to have a hand cover my mouth. A arm wrapped around my waist, lifting me up and into this red van. My vision started to get blurry.
