Chapter 12

With all my might, I lifted myself up. My legs were wobbling, like when I was taking a step(lawl)for the first time. The rope that was connected to my feet was holding me back, but there was a chair that was calling my name.

I dragged it over to the place I was at and put it in a right position. When I was ready, I hoisted myself up. Looking out the window, I still saw the shoes.

"MITCH! MITCH! Mitch..." I became quieter as he had walked away, and I heard the stomping loud footsteps of the person who has been 'taking care' of me.

She, Kendra Wellings, was supposed to feed me, like I was some animal in a cage, but she kept forgetting. It's not that this person hated me, she was telling me how to get out of here.

As she came, I saw Edward. It looked like Kendra had a scar across her check and a cut on her lip. A bruise was on her arm. Kendra stared at me with he big brown eyes and held her black hair on one side and mouthed, 'I'm sorry.'

"What," Edward strictly said as he gripped Kendra's arm hard, making her wince. "Did she say?"

"I-I-" Kendra started, but got cut off by a hand punching her in the stomach.

"She told me that she," Kendra nodded her head, knowing what would happen if I lied or not. "She told me the way out."

Edward had thrown her to the floor.

"We can't let her leave, you dimwit. She'll contact the police." I watched as he threw her against the wall, and Kendra had blood dripping from her nose.

Mitch's POV

"Did you hear something?" I asked Lilac after I swear I heard Maddie.

"No, not at all." She said, a bit too happy. Lilac had her arm wrapped around mine, and her head was rested on my shoulder.

I felt, really, really, awkward.

"Let's just go home, okay?" She smiled at me and turned us around.

And I swear, I heard Maddie's scream again.
