"Lilac, I swear I heard Maddie." I said to her as we were halfway down the street from when I heard it. Lilac sighed.

"You're going insane!" She screamed. This has been the tenth time I said it to her.

"No, no I am not!" I gently pushed her off of me, seeing her head was rested on my shoulder.

"Mitch, you are. Why don't you go back and see for yourself? Hu? Go!" Lilac pointed her finger the way we just came. I bowed.

"Gladly." I scowled, running back. My feet hit the pavement every point twelve seconds, and I was running faster that I have ever ran. Again, I heard her voice.

"MADDIE?!" Hearing her screams again, I stopped and looked around. There was an empty alley behind, which was dark and made me scared. She could be there. But her voice seems lower, like she is underground.

Then I saw it.

A window was halfway open, and there were two things I could see. One, was a dark tan tarp with just enough room for me to see Maddie's brown hair. But, there was blood dripping from the tips.

Maddie screamed in a high pitch yell and I could tell that she was in bad, bad pain. "WHY ARE WE KEEPING YOU ALIVE?" A man's voice yelled. I heard a sharp noise, followed by another scream.

Because she's perfect, and worth it and the love of my life. I thought in my head.

I had to find a way to sneak in there without being noticed that much. An old lady had walked out of the building.

Maddie's POV

Edward held a whip in his hand. My heartbeat was getting slower, and I could just feel that I was dying. Bruises and scars were everywhere on my skin, and blood was just all over the floor. His eyes were closed as he hit me with the whip, and I just felt like I deserved to die.

So, I sat there, crying and screaming in pain.

"Edward, we have a new care-taker. Leave the girl alone and go make me lunch!" The old woman, Naila, said as she shoved a boy in.

My stomach turned and I tried to keep my eyes open. His brown Canadian eyes looked perfect even in the dim lighting, and his light brown hair was as messy as always. Mitch ran towards me when Edward and Naila left.

"Are you okay, Maddie?" I shook my head no as he rubbed my back. "We need a hospital," My blinks were getting heavier as of my breaths. The lungs I have right now are being sucky lungs, right now. "Now, Maddie. We need to get you-" My vision darkened.

Mitch's POV*Around thirty minutes later*

Jerome came running down the hall of the hospital. Tears went down his face when he saw me, and the door I was next to. "M-Mitch. Is M-Maddie okay?"

"Not really. She's lost a lot of blood and is said to have, and I'm quoting the doctors on this, less than 25% to live." I remembered those kids with no arms, no feet and no legs and how much I would kill for Maddie to be them right now.

"This is why I hate my life!" Jerome screamed, kicking a garbage can. That got us a ton of attention from the nurses and doctors. "So much death and pain, Mitch," He finally said when he calmed down. "Just so much..."

Jerome sank to the floor-he didn't sit, he laid on the floor-and cried. I couldn't resist to cry, too. Maybe I could've been helpful and... Done what?

"Jerome, our lives revolve around YouTube. And I have just learned, that it absolutely sucks not being on there. After the doctor comes out of Maddie's room, let's just go home." I was right on time, too.

"Are you... Mitchell Hughes?" He said, pointing to me. I nodded. "Well, you brought Maddiline at the right time. A minute later, she would've been dead. The good news is, she is alive and breathing. The bad news is, she has lost a ton of blood. Her blood type is type O, very rare but we are lucky to have some." He patted me on the shoulder and walked off like it was no big deal.
