"Hey, Mitch. Mom got Maddie, you and I chocolates. But they are cursed because we can't eat them till tomorrow." He sighed through the phone. Yes! She didn't tell him... yet. Once she does, I am so screwed. "Maddie told me you and Lilly broke up."

"Yeah, it really sucks, dood. But hey, at least you still have Louise." I was still getting glances from the nurses. So, I took a step outside.

"Speaking of Louise, she is calling right now. I will be back." He said in a terminator voice, canceling the call. I took a deep breath, putting my hands in my pockets-along with my phone-and played with my keys. I didn't feel like driving, at all.

Finally deciding to not drive it, then kicking the side of it, I walked, thinking about what had just happened. The sun was still rising, which was surprising because it's almost noon. Bright sunlight shinned on my face, making me squint and run into an old lady.

She stared up at me with grey eyes that I know held a horrible past. Her wrinkles across her face was nothing compared to the scars on her ears and arms. She smiled up at me, locking her hands with her walker, ready to walk across the street. "Stupid people not letting a old women walk." She started to mutter. "I DON'T HAVE ALL DAY!"

I jumped backwards in surprise that she could yell that loud. "Do you want help?" Looking at me, she narrowed her eyes like she saw me for the first time.

"A-Aaron? I thoug-"

"I am Mitchell, don't know who Aaron is." I scratched the back of my neck, getting stuck in an awkward moment.

"Oh, I should've known better. He died in the war. My only son... He looked so much like you, so much..." Her voice trailed off.

"Would you like help across the street?" I asked again. She nodded her head, waiting for the cars to yield as the 'Walk' sign appeared. I took her arm, slowly walking her across the street.

Maddie's POV

I was no where near home. Probably in the totally wrong direction, and I was in a place I have never seen before. It looks deserted, the only thing here is the sound of my wheel chair and a pack of barking dogs. The wind blew across my face, making my eyes dry. I blinked, ready to turn back. But then I saw a boy.

His black hair was gelled back and his dirt brown eyes were filled with worry. He ran behind me, hiding behind my chair. Then, another man came out, and he was holding a gun. "Stop hiding behind the girl, Charles."

His voice was scratchy and horrible sounding. I was taking deep breaths, feeling Charles behind me. Or, at least I think that is Charles. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him look at me with sorrow-filled eyes. "Fine."

Charles-I think-stepped out from behind me. I watched as the man pulled the trigger, shooting Charles in the heart. My face was instantly covered in tears. His body landed next to me, blood was everywhere.

"Sorry you had to see that, darling. I think you should leave." Should I? I did without anymore questions.

"MITCH!" I yelled, seeing him with his back against a tree. He put his hands through his hair, seeming like he did something bad.

Mitch's face brightened as I rolled over to him. "Maddie, thank god." His arms wrapped around me, making me smile. But there was this feeling that I could've done something back there. "Are you okay?"

Say you are fine, say it! "No. I watched someone die Mitch." Tears went nonstop down my face, and Mitch tightened the hug.

"It's okay, Maddie. It's okay."
