Chapter 14: Second Task

     "Keep it down Hermione!" I heard Harry whisper franticlly on the eve of the second task.

"You told me you solved the clue ages ago! Lily, can you help us?" Hermione asked as I passed by

"Go on."

"How can I breath underwater for an hour?" Hary asked.

"I'll be back, stay here." I dashed to Sevs classroom.

"Hey Lily, what's up?" Sev asked raising his eyebrows.

"What will it cost me to get enough gillyweed for an hour?" I asked quickly.

"Cleaning all the couldrons out by hand for two months straight after each period." Sev hissed.

"Deal, thanks Sevvy."

Sev groaned, "Wanna make it three?" He left giving me enough of the gillyweed to fill my palm.

I raced back to the library and shoved the gillyweed into Harry's hand. "Eat all this before you get into the water, it'll keep you alive. Trust me."

"Thanks Lily, I-" Harry stopped midseentance.

"Lily, McGonagall wants you and Granger in her office, now." Malfoy said peeking around a shelf.

"See you later Harry." I said waving at him.

"What does she want us for?" Hermione asked.

"Honestly, I don't know." Malfoy admitted.

We arrived at Minervas office to find Albus and Sev there as well.

"No, no, no Albus! I won't allow it!" Sev hissed.

In the room I saw Gabrielle, Fleurs sister and Cho, Cedrics girlfriend.

"We will discuss this later." Albus said firmly. He turned to us, "the four of you will be the item each of our champion will need to retrieve at the bottom of the lake. Don't worry, you'll be asleep and wake up once above the water."

"Drink this, the three of you."Sev said handing every student but me a vial.

Albus conjured up stretchers to catch each student as they fainted into their sleep. Minerva waved her wand directing them to the Black Lake.

"She is the only one closest to Harry." Albus said.

"Lily, do you want to do this?" Sev asked.

"I'll be asleep, no big deal Sev. I'll see you after Harry rescues me. Let's hope he doesn't find out our connection."

"As long as your scars don't touch you'll be fine." Sev replied handing me a vial.

Seconds after drinking it, the world became black. What felt let like seconds later, I awoke to find myself surrounded  by water with Harry next to me.

He looked terrible, skin almost blue, and nasty burns on his legs as he got out.

Harry ended up being tied with Cedric for first. Both arrived at the same time out of the lake.

"Lily, are you ok?" Harry asked franticlly.

"Of course. Why wouldn't I be?" I laughed.

"Why were you my hostage? Fleurs was her sister, but I thought you'd be hers. Cho and Hermione were the Yule Ball dates." Harry said thinking deep.

"Who cares, your my knight in shinning armor." I replied as blankets were wrapped tightly around me.

"Abott" I turned to find Malfoy coming close.

"Potter screwed up. Fleurs sister wasn't supposed to be there, you were to be her hostage. I can't believe Dumbledore would put an 11 year old girl at the bottom of a lake for a competition." Malfoy scoffed.

"Your adorable. I'll see you around?" I asked looking to find Krum taking a beetle our of Hermione's hair.

Sev strode up to me looking intimidating as always. "Lily, are you ok?" He asked at once.

"I'm fine Professor Snape, thanks for the concern." I said pointing behind him. He just ruined his tough reputation.

"Who cares, your all right. That's all that matters." Sev repied carrying me to the first aid tent.

"You still haven't told Potter about our relationship?" Sev whispered in my ear.

"No, all I've said is that you promised my guardian to look after me, that way they aren't suspicious of you being overprotective." I explained.

"Smart, brilliant, just like your mother." Sev managed a smile then swept from the tent.

Later that say, Harry came up to me. "Lily! Why were you made my hostage?"

I shrugged, wanting to tell him the truth, but Sev would never forgive me. "I'm a close friend of yours is all. McGonagall told me they picked the people you cared about. I have to go meet with Fleur." I left Harry gaping at my figure.

Over the next three months all was quiet until someone knocked into me.

"Hello. I'm sorry." A blonde dreamy eyed girl said taking a hand to help me up.

"It's no big deal. I'm Lily Abott, from Beauxbatons. What's your name?"

"Luna, I'm in Ravenclaw. Wit beyond measure is mans greatest treasure." She giggled to herself.

"What do you think about the Tournament?" I asked falling beside her.

"It's barbaric, but provides a lot of entertainment. Want to come with? I'm off to the library to learn fourth years spells." Luna smiled.

"I can help with that, I am 14. Which one do you want to learn first?"

"Really? Everyone here thinks I'm a nerd, including my own house." Luna mumbled.

"Look at Hermione Granger, she soaks up knowledge like a sponge. What's your favorite subject?" I asked.

"Charms, yours?"

"All of them. It's too hard to choose." I laughed.

Luna liked at me closely, "you're living a lie Lily Abott. The longer you keep this up, the more people you'll hurt." Luna said in a harsh voice.

"What?!" I asked horrified.

Lunas eyes shook her head."Did I say somethung? If I did, I'm sorrry. I'm a Seer, my dad told me when I saw Mum die a week before my ninth birthday happened."

"It was nothing Luna, don't worry. Now how about these charms?" I asked flipping through the book.

An hour later, I returned to the carriage to take a nap, when I bumped into someone. "I'm sorry!"

I looked up to see Sevs eyes looking back at mine. "Are you ok?"

I opened my mouth to say something, but stopped when I  saw a group of Slytherins looking our way.

"Abott to my office NOW!" Sev bellowed causing all the students to scatter.
