{I:8} Evil

43 13 19

You never try to understand
the difference between you and I,
You stand for truth, I stand for justice,
but together we can't make a tie.

What's wrong to you I deem as evil,
what I adore you embrace as pleasant,
and yet our boats float on opposite tides,
which we will never know its destination.

You seem to look through the foggy glass
which binds and seperates us both
and in that glass you see yourself,
as shocked as I when you realise

We are one body, one flesh, one bone
and yet live lives patterned with diverse destinies

I may be brave and confident
You may be bold and courageous
still what lies within stands between
so neither you nor I can cross over
that flimsy curtain of time,

Now someday as eternity rolls
the thin glass of mists finally blinks once
leaving a whisper of breath, our only chance

And even as we both leap at this offer of fate
you and I still think alike
not a joining of unity unto stronghold
save to have at each others necks a tight hold

Because though we fight for the same cause
we sweat for one country
that sacred part of you and I
could never comprehend
how the other could condone and appreciate
so much evil in one heart and breath

Even as we, you and I
tumble down the endless path to oblivion
looking into irises as of oneness
a dark, secret part of our existence
embraces what we so carelessly defeated
the force of unity in eradicating
our cruel evil nature
from the existence of man.
