I rose with a start early the next morning. More nightmares, but this time of Walli. Nightmares that he had been taken somewhere by the blue eyed man, that he was being hurt, that he could be dead. I felt fresh tears on my face that I had shed for him in my sleep. Looking around the room, a stream of sunlight cut through the curtains and shines on the door.
The door which I promptly headed for and made my way downstairs. When I reached the bottom floor, I was greeted with a huge smile from my aunt, who held a full skillet in her hands.
"Morning dear! I've got bacon on. How do you like your eggs?"
"Uh...scrambled.", was all I could manage in response. The whole situation was off putting to me. I hadn't had anyone make me breakfast since...well, since Mom.
"Coming right up." She said, the smile never leaving her face. I sat down om a barstool at the kitchen island awkwardly.  She was hard to read, my aunt. I couldn't tell if she was actually as chipper as she appeared, or if she was as uncomfortable as I was and this was her way of coping.
When she accidently dropped all of the bacon off the skillet in a nervous motion, I got my answer.
In a knee jerk reaction, I knelt down to help her pick it up, and we knocked heads. Moving away, I looked up at her and when our eyes met, we both chuckled. The air seemed less tense for a moment.
"Thank you, dear." She said, as I discarded the bacon scraps into the trash can behind us.
"No problem." I looked around the floor as the room fell into silence again. Gloria sighed heavily but said nothing. After what felt like hours but was likely only a minute or two, I finally gained the nerve to speak up.
"So...Gloria, aunt Gloria, I mean, I uh...."
"Yes dear?"
"Mia. You can just call me Mia, if you'd like." She smiled at that.
"Well then...yes, Mia?"
"I have some questions." Gloria's eyes twitched from side to side at the statement, which only strengthened my resolve. If she didn't want my questions, then I probably didn't want the answers, but that only meant I needed them. Nerves and discomfort be damned! I had to take control of my own life for once.
"What happened to Walli? Why am I here?" I asked, as firmly as I knew how. Gloria stemmed to sense my determination. She drew in a long, slow breath.
"Sit down, de- er, Mia." I did as she asked and took my seat at the barstool once more, giving her an urging look when I was seated.
"We knew thus time was approaching once your mother passed-"
"M-my mother?" I stuttered incredulously. "What does she have to do with this?"
"Mia...." Gloria's eyes scanned the room as if the right words were written on the wall somewhere.
"The first thing that you ne3d to understand is that you are not a normal person."  I snorted involuntarily, and without humor.
"No kidding "
"No, no. It's not like the normal kind of abnormal." I gave her an even more confused look. "Mia dear, you come from a long line of - well, people that posses....certain abilities. We are, or were, referred to as druids. Many, many centuries ago." I was sent into a full fit of laughter this time. Laughter that only dwindled when I noticed Glorias unwavering serious expression .
"You're not serious, right?" She just remained staring at me, pity in her eyes. I was beginning to question the woman's sanity. Then she said something that sealed the deal.
"These abilities are the reason your mother died. Mia, your mother was murdered." I felt my mouth drop open. She continued. "But you already knew that, didn't you?" I felt myself lean back as if the weight of her words hit me physically. Sure I always thought there was more to my mother's death than people bieleved, but I hadn't shared that with Gloria, so how she knew it, I had no idea, and ...my mother murdered?
"What are these so called abolities?" My voice rose out of frustration. This was too much. All of it.
"You would likely call them powers. Our abilities lie with nature, being one with it, and channeling it. They have been handed down through select families for hundreds of years. Your mother and father both possessed these abilities, and now so do you." I felt myself jolt back again. The information was attacking me.
"My father?" I huffed angrily. "I suppose you're gonna tell me he was murdered too?" I was yelling now.
"Clam down, Mia. I know this is a lot to take in." Gloria raised defensive hands as if somewhat frightened and Mia instantly felt guilty. Even if this was all crazy, this woman had taken her into her home. Mia sighed.
"I'm sorry." She breathed in deeply, and gave Gloria an apologetic glance. "But I mean, you can't actually expect me to bieleve all of this."
"I don't, we never did." We? "At least not coming from me." Gloria bent down to the shelf under the island and pulled out a laptop, flipping it open and pressing a few buttons. When she appeared to find what she had been looking for, she turned the screen to face Mia. Mia gasped when she saw the screen. It was video of her mother.
She gave Gloria a weary glance and pressed play. She was startled by the sound of her mother's voice, which she hasn't heard in months.
"Hi sweetheart! It's Mom. If you're seeing this then that means that I'm gone, and I'm sorry for that. It also means that Shashan has come for you. It's important that you know that everything youve been told is true. Our family is special, Mia. You are special, for the power you hold inside you, but people seek to use you for it. We have prepared this plan to jeep you safe. You have to listen to Gloria and Walli." Mua's mother paused for a moment and a tear welled  in her eye. "I love you, Mia." The video ended. Mia didn't move, she only stared at the screen. She was completely lost in the sea of her mother's words. She jumped when Gloria touched her hand, but she was ready to speak.
"Who is Shashan?'
