Ch. 29

Adrian's POV- August 2016

"Maybe we should change the channel" I suggested.

Sophia turned to me and shook her head as she wiped her face.

"No, they're happy tears"

I nodded as she looked back at the screen.

"I would have loved to be there, but things happen for a reason"

We both watched as the 5 US gymnasts who had just won Olympic gold made their way to a camera.

"Ready?"

They all nodded before saying,

"We are the Final Five!"

"Do you know any of them?" I asked.

Sophia looked at me and nodded.

"Maddie, Simone and I were teammates. They were one of the few gymnasts who I stayed friends with. You'll actually meet Maddie since she's going to be my teammate. Simone she's one of my closest friends, we haven't exactly talked recently since she's been working for this"

I nodded, Soph was one of the strongest people I knew. She had two major life changing events happen to her at around the same time, but she didn't let those events shape her life. She'll never get over the loss of losing her father. Her doctors gave her a 10% chance of competing and here she was a year into NCAA gymnastics. The two surgeries she had are two of the most painful surgeries to recover from, but that didn't stop her.

"I wouldn't have met you if I had chosen to continue competing Elite"

She leaned forward and I lifted my arm so she could hug me. I put my arm around her and smiled down at her.

"Simone actually wants to meet you"

"No pressure" I said.

She laughed and gave me a quick kiss.

"She's 4'10, what damage can she do to you?"

"What if she doesn't like me?" I asked.

"She'll love you because I love you"

She kissed my jaw and turned her attention to the TV.

"I don't know Laurie Hernandez since she's the youngest on the team, but I've met Aly and Gabbie through Esme"

"Not Jordyn?" I asked.

"Your best friend"

I rolled my eyes as she laughed.

"Do you know any of the guys on the Olympic team?" I asked.

I know I was asking a lot of question but that's cause I really didn't keep up with gymnastics. I watched her team compete, and that's about it. I was technically still learning, and had a lot to learn.

"Yeah, Jake Dalton won the American Cup the same year I won it as well"

I nodded.

"Danell Leyva is the boyfriend of one of my teammates, and Jordyn has something with Chris Brooks"

"Does George know this?" I wondered.

She shrugged.

"I figured I'd let him figure it out"

I hummed, and she reached for her phone. I watched as she scrolled through her pictures and found one of her and Simone Biles in pink Leotards. She posted it on her instagram with the caption,

No one deserves this more than you. After my injury I tried to shut out everyone from the Elite world but you never let me. I'm so proud of you, can't wait to watch you compete in the All Around, Vault, Floor, and Beam. Love you! #Doubletrouble 👯
