A Shell Like Steel.

Black Eyes and I walked through the forest for maybe an hour. There wasn't anything interesting to see though. It was raining, not too hard though. We didn't see any soldiers come from the trees. Why would they even think that I'd be in America? Some people have gotten pretty creative from what I saw on the Russian news. Egyptian pyramids, Mayan ruins, Amazon Jungle, the bottom of the pacific and even the moon! At this point, it's all show now. Any one would want to watch a documentary about hunting me all over the world. They'd never find me. Never.

The forest was very quite. Too quite. Even in this rain. I had some of the greatest instincts in the world. There wasn't anything at the moment. Was there a bigger fish in the pond that scared everything away? I was going to guess that we were in the Coast Redwood forest in California U.S.A.

Black Eyes was mysteriously quite. "Where are we going?" I asked him. He said "Where ever the wind takes me. There is magic in everything. But the wind has more than most things. I think that I've tracked down a man named Timothy Helen. He has the skills that we need." He stopped for a moment and said, "Where are my manners? I know your nick name, what's your real name?" Nobody had ever asked me something like that in a while. A demon was wanting to get to know me better? "Lori Shield." "That's an interesting name for someone from India. Let's keep going."

Something was wrong. There was someone else here. The scary thing was they didn't know I was here. That made me feel even more uncomfortable that this other living here didn't know yet. "Uhhhh, Black Eyes... what does this Tim guy have that we need?" Without hesitating he responded, "This guy was a test subject at an secret government lab in New York. How did he make it to California? I'll never figure... wait! Climb that tree. Stay up there in case anything happens!" Really, take myself to safety? Nothing could scare me. Not after what I have been through. I did it any ways. I wasn't scared any more. I had plenty of chances to kill him and he thinks I could get hurt?

There was something there though. He was asleep. He heard breathing. Excited breathing. It woke him up. His eyes turned into slits, like a reptile. "It could be time to get rid of someone... again."  he though. 

I saw him with my gun scope from about a football field away. Yes, I know what American football is. Go Boise State. I wasn't planing on shooting him though. I wanted to watch him be wrong so I could laugh at him. I still didn't believe in magic. Black Eyes just stood there, not moving. Suddenly the trees started moving. Something stood up. If this was Black Eyes summoning up a black giant to prank me,  I'd be pissed at him. I just might have shot him. It wasn't Black Eyes though. This thing arouse on two feet. It couldn't be human, way too tall. It had two huge thick arms, a shell, strange looking head. It almost looked like some kinda hybrid between a human and a... turtle? While I was thinking about this, I went climbing though the trees to see if this was true while thinking about all of this. I was right, It looked just like a human/turtle hybrid. 

Black Eyes and the thing stared at each other for a few seconds. Now I was terrified, but I couldn't leave Black Eyes there alone. Even though I almost killed him a hundred times today, it just didn't feel right. The turtle looked at him and roared like a lion. Only deeper, with more fury and anger. Black Eyes just stared and said, "Geez man, what have you been eating? I should gone to Walmart and bought you some "Ice Breakers." Maybe even a toothbrush?"The thing stopped and stared at him. It spoke and said," Wait, you aren't scared?" It was a deep voice. Something that would put Vin Diesel to shame. He sounded like a guy who had smoked for twenty years. "No, of course not. When I have been to Hell and back, there isn't anything that scares me." The thing was quite for a moment. Black Eyes sat down on a log a said,  "Are you Timothy Helen?" he asked. "Haven't heard that name in a long time. Yes, I am. How do you know that?" Black Eyes knew where I was and yelled, "Yo, you can come down now."
