Cornered

[Hey guys and gals! As a few of you may notice, my two other fanfics are gone, I was unsure about the storyline, and I wanted to try something new! They're called The Demon's Apprentice and Seven Deadly Social Life, two plots I want to invest my time in! But thank you so much for keeping up with my book so far!

And by the way I'm sorry for the wait I got the flu and I was sick in bed like a sad little pancake and (I'm not joking) while I was half-asleep I muttered, "Elizabeth, go change my washcloth." and she then responds, "Okay, Meliodas-samaaa" and I woke up then and there... my gosh....

I'm so obsessed it's really unhealthy]

Elizabeth POV

The sweat was cooking on my forehead. I was shaking in fear, praying that Meliodas would come back soon. I would have felt more secure if I didn't hear footsteps I didn't recognize pounding on the floor beneath me. Each board shook with each step, and I felt it through the walls, shaking. I froze, even though tons of warm (yet scratchy) blankets covered my entire body, including some water and some fruit. I can remember his words echoing in my mind,

"If you need anything, call me. I'll be there as soon as possible."

I didn't want to call, because maybe Meliodas couldn't get here in time and the person downstairs would have heard my hiding place and attack. I sat there, my knees in my face, uncomfortable and anxious.

I heard the loud stomping up the little wooden stairs, and I could believe that one of the stairs fell off and clanked onto the floor beneath. He was now upstairs, about 50 steps from my location in my bedroom. I bit my lip, crying, pleading that he doesn't come for my room.

"Meliodas..." I whispered, my eyes squinted shut. I thought he heard me, but he opened the door to his room. I sighed a breath of relief, when he slammed the door shut and started walking to my bedroom. I could taste the sweat streaming down my face and I could feel the rouge splatted on my face. He was coming for me, and once again, I am rendered helpless.

"Hello?" The voice said. Then, I knew it was Zeldris. "Princess Elizabeth, I want to have a talk with you! Won't you come out and play?"

I swallowed, praying that he wouldn't do the foolish task of opening the closet doors, and looking behind the shoes and dress (singular) and finding me, huddled up in a corner with covers over my face. I could feel the presence of a person right in front of me, his hand touching the doorknob, twisting it. I could then see the light of day pouring through the bedroom window, and I could see the darkness of a thousand shadows lingering beside me searching for me.

Letting all of my instinct for hiding go, I screamed at the top of my lungs, "MELIODAAAAAAAS!"

Zeldris grinned and put his foot up on the floor of the closet,

"Hello, Elizabeth!" He cheered, the type of phony cheer you'd hear from a kidnapper. He reached out his hand. I hid in the darkness of the corner, shielding my eyes from the demonic force billowing around him. He took a piece of my hair and twirled it around his finger.

It was beginning to look like I was done for. I screamed out once more for Meliodas, but I didn't see my knight in shining armor parade through the door like I'd imagined in my dreams. I was cornered in a closet, and I didn't even know why he was here. What would he gain from doing this to me?

"Stop it."

Both Zeldris and my head snapped to the direction of the voice, and sure enough, there was Meliodas. It sounds like a line from a fairy tale, cliche and expected, but it was the fact that this was not expected from me that made this moment all the better.

Meliodas walked up to Zeldris

"You can hurt me

Torture me

Kill me

But for the sake of humanity

Don't

touch

her."

Zeldris backed away at Meliodas's remark, and simply said

"I knew that you'd come for her. This fight is kind of getting boring, isn't it?"

Meliodas stood firm in the ground, his hands in his pockets glaring at Zeldris.

"I'm bored with you, brother. You've really disappointed me. Go on another adventure and I'll come back later. Then we can have some fun."

With that, he flicked his wrist. His little friends followed him out the window and into the open sky. Meliodas ran to me, making sure I was alright for the second time, and promised me that I fooled him twice, and he would never go away from me again.

For a guardian, he messes up a lot.
