Elizabeth POV

I couldn't see anything but him. Gowther put me under one of his spells so I saw my dreams, and I was in a white room. No shadows; no furniture; no nothing.

Except

Right in front of me

Was Sir Meliodas.

He walked up to me and stroked my cheek. He took my hair and twirled it around his little finger.

"Princess...." He cooed. "Of Liones......" I giggled and blushed ridiculously. The second his finger tapped my shoulder, I heard a loud poof  and we were surrounded by cherry blossoms. I could feel the ground beneath us becoming warm, and my shoes vanished. I felt the grass underneath my toes, and my eyes met his.

"Meliodas......." I responded.

"Yes?" He asked. His eyes softened, a look he had not given me for a long time. He ticked his head to the side, the funny way he does whenever he's contemplating what to say, ask, or do.

I felt a jerk on my neck, and my eyes opened to the dingy ceiling of the tavern once again. However, I had not fully awaken from my daydream, and I screamed at the top of my lungs,

"WILL YOU MARRY ME?" I jerked up from my bed.

The doctor, along with a very, very, VERY confused Gowther took a look stare at me. I pulled the covers back over my face, and I could hear hysterical laughter from the outside room. It wasn't Meliodas. I was somewhat relieved, he had not heard my extraordinarily embarrassing shouts, but did he think I was joking?

I wasn't.

I heard loud footprints coming from the kitchen, followed by the pounding of the boards outside my room, and the door came to a screeching opening. There was Meliodas, tears streaming down his face. He must have heard me. He took a second to stare at Ban. He looked at Merlin. He looked at me.

"No." Meliodas stated, his head bowed.

I was shocked. Ban was shocked, his jaw almost touching the ground. Merlin's eyes opened wider than her usual cat-like stare. King dropped his Chastefoil. Diane peeped her nose through the window, her jaw also on the ground. Gowther just looked at me. And I:

I sat there.

"Sir Meliodas?" I asked.

"Yes?" He grunted. He coughed, tears still streaming from his once happy and bubbly green eyes. He rolled his shoulders back, tapped his foot on the ground, and tilted his head to the side.

He walked up to me, took my right hand, and said these words:

"You deserve better. I've done all sorts of things to you, and I've put you in such danger. Look at you now! You've just finished surgery- on an injury that could've been prevented if you had never met me! Ban helped me realize that you're a princess, and I'm a tavern owner, even though I'm the Captain of the Sins. Status doesn't change. I bet you're father has a beautiful, wealthy, and kind prince all set out for you, and I'm just in the way.......Elizabeth.......will you forgive me?"

I sat up from my bed, walking from what seems for a long time. My legs wobbled over, and he caught me from falling.

"I went out to find you. And I found you. I'm a princess, that's right, but that means I have a say in what goes on in my country. I chose to go chase you, and I got hurt as a consequence of my own decisions. And Gowther put me in a dream spell, and I didn't see anything but you! Are you saying that you're going to throw everything we have together away because someone tells you otherwise? You told me never to give up! You stopped me from giving up the first day I met you. Are you going to go back on your promise?" I cried.

With the word "promise", Meliodas's eyes darkened.

"I need to go lie down." Meliodas said.

He grabbed my by the shoulder, got up on the toes, kissed me on the cheek, and walked out the door.
