As we were crowded into the back of vans, the lucky few of my pack huddled together as the other pack held guns with silver bullets to our heads. Most of my pack were killed in their places, but a few girl wolves were chosen to be made servants or slaves to the pack capturing us.
I remember the look in my mother's eyes as she had a gun pointed at the back of her head, hope, in a fake smile; which would be engraved into my memory for the rest of my life. She wanted me to see her as she normally was, happy and at ease. So she died with this fake smile. Still, my soul was crushed at the sight of her as I saw her body jolt violently forward as the silver bullet was embedded into her brain. Blood dribbled from her head into the cracks of the stone slabs she lay on, all warmth descending from her body into the ground.
Hopefully now she was in a better place.
I snapped out of my daydreams as a small girl of my former pack Anne, grabbed my arm and squoze it tight for comfort and support as her mother couldn't provide this, she was another victim of the pack. Claimed by the ground, after she was shot with two silver bullets. "Where are we going Violet, why was our mummy's shot?" she said with her voice shaking. She was too young to be part of this I thought. She needs her family, God knows where we are going and what our fates behold. I replied reassuringly "I'm not sure, our mums were, uh, I don't know how to explain. You will find out when you are older." I didn't even know whether we were going to see tomorrow, let alone have the chance to 'get older.' If only we knew. "You'll be ok, don't worry Anne, I will take care of you."
I didn't know if it would be best to promise this at the time. I knew I wouldn't be able to save her if they hurt her. My heart sank and my chest became tight, I wonder what's going to happen.

I felt the van get slower as if it was going to park up. I looked at all the desperate faces looking at the doors of the van. We all wanted to be free, why were only girls captured? why weren't we killed? Maybe we had some sort of purpose for where we were going. Hopefully it didn't include slavery or death.
I heard the tires skid to a stop on thick gravel and the front doors of the van open.. "Let's get them in the cells quickly, then the royals and alphas get the first pick." A deep voice boomed. I assumed they meant us the royals would be picking from.
Light blinded me as the doors of the van shot open. My head twisted quickly and I raised my hand above my eyes to block the sunlight until my eyes adjusted. Two huge men glared at us and then one grabbed a woman's arm. She tried pulling back but it was no use, they were too strong. I felt my inner wolf growl as I saw them pulling my pack out one by one, like we were just animals.
Finally my wolf decided to speak to me after being upset that our alpha had been killed trying to save everyone, 'We need to escape quickly, maybe you could let me out when we are dragged from the van..'
'That won't work, they are too strong. I won't let you.'
'Try stopping me. THIS OUR ONLY CHANCE, WHO KNOWS WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN.'
I ignored my wolf as she was bickering to me in my head. I knew the wolves were large and could catch us easily if they ran with their hind legs. So I just thought I would let them take me. I wouldn't totally dismiss thinking of an escape, but for now I needed them to not get suspicious.
I felt a hand clamp around my arm and I was hauled out of the van. As my feet hit the ground I almost fell over but the man steadied me and proceeded to pull me towards what looked like a castle, its walls were made of fine white bricks and circular towers stood attached to each corner of the square base of the tall castle. There was a little hedge and grass running around it and behind me, a moat surrounding the area connected to the castle and a wooden draw bridge. It looked harder to escape than I initially thought.
Finally I trailed behind the large man into the castle, a fine red carpet running from the door and seperating into two curves leading to stairs. I was taken to the second door on the left and the other man opened the wooden door, leading Maria, another woman of my pack, into the room. When I entered I noticed it was very dark and gloomy. The floor was grey tiles and cold on my bare feet. I was pushed onto a small bed and the men left the room. There were 10 beds in this room. It looked like a prison cell, and 6 of my friends were already in here, peering at each other sadly. Some chatter had already begun about a possible escape, and others deemed an escape impossible after noticing the draw bridge which would be closed most of the time.
When all of the pack members were inside the room, there were only nine of us. I looked around worriedly and noticed that Georgina was missing. A girl in her 20's, bubbly and fun, was not in here. I tip-toed to the door and placed an ear against it to listen. I heard a hard bang, and a scream. 'That's what you get for trying to run away missy.' said the older man we saw before. He then laughed complacently and I heard her legs dragging on the rug outside as she was taken somewhere else.
I just wanted my family back, my mother. Her sweet smile, her calmness. My sister Rosie, was also dead. I didn't watch her death, she was lead away behind a burning building and brutally murdered.
'They may take away everything we have, our home, our family, our happiness. But they will NEVER destroy our soul and our memories. They could even destroy our dignity but it won't matter. They will not take everything.' Dana my wolf said in my head. I agreed with her. We were going to survive this.
