Chapter 16

When the movie had finished, I decided to go make dinner. It had been a long day today, with Ryan coming back and work. As I stood up, Ryan also stood, "let's go to the diner." He suggested.

"Sure, I haven't been there yet," I replied. I was looking forward to just some me and Ryan time. I needed to tell him about how the pregnancy was going and discuss baby names too. I was half way through my pregnancy, 3 months. For werewolves, pregnancy only lasts 6 months. I think it is strange for humans to have longer pregnancies. They're similar to us really, we have the same form most of the time. Our genes are modified though, naturally, compared to humans.

We evolved same as all the other prehistoric members of the animal kingdom, we just lived in secrecy, mostly seperate from human civilization. Our ancestors thought it to be better that way, safer. Also that would prevent cross-breeds between humans and werewolves. There is a legend that once, many centuries ago, a human and a werewolf had a child, it was deformed and when it tried to turn into a wolf at the age of 16, only the top half of it's body turned wolf. The cross-breed died at a young age, inevitably, as the top half of its body's bones kept breaking when it changed as they couldn't support the wolf side of it, only the human.

Ryan lead me to the front door and gave me a warm hug before we left, he looked happy, I knew I felt the same. We walked hand in hand down the road, memories flashed back every time I walked down this road of when I was trying to get to him as his father dragged him from our home with the very hands that also slaughtered many members of my original pack.

Soon, though, I wouldn't have to worry about bad things happening to us involving Ryan's father - If I should even call him that, I think Ryan may have disowned him now.. - We were going to find a way to rid him of the throne once and for all. This made me think of a great idea, "We have to earn your father's official blessing for you to get the throne, right?" I asked Ryan as we walked together down the road. "Yes, why do you ask?" he looked at me curiously.

"Well I think that maybe we could work our way back into your 'family', maybe if we get into your mother's and father's good books, they will bless us."

"I don't think that will ever happen, because of, your past.." Ryan looked at me in case I felt hurt, I knew he was referring to me being a servant before.

"What about Sky?" I realised that Ryan could get his father's blessing if he married a fine woman, maybe he would have to lead Sky on, and then at the very last minute, just before he gives his blessing to her and Ryan, I push her out of the way and swap. Obviously I would have to hide in disguise at the wedding. That's if there wasn't much security.

"What about her?" Ryan asked.

"Well you could lead her on, and get to the point where your father blesses you and her, maybe before marriage, just before he blesses you and Sky, I could swap places."

"No, that wouldn't work, besides I am not leading on another woman, I have you, she would be able to tell I love you. Also she is a widow, I can't give her false hope, just to destroy it. Her mate got killed in a battle which my father lead. If she fell in love with me, I think losing two loves, her mate, and then someone she got over her mate for, it would destroy her.

I was silenced by his speech. It was true. Ryan is so caring, he wants the best for all the good people around him. Even if he hardly knows them.

After a few seconds, Ryan spoke again, as I wasn't replying, "my father probably wouldn't give me his position until after marriage, and also you wouldn't be able to swap with her without him noticing."

I felt so dumb to even suggest the whole idea in the first place. We were going to have to think up a proper plan. The best one anyone had suggested so far, was war, this pack, against Ryan's father's.

We reached the diner and walked in, all eyes were on us. These were people we hadn't met before, not even me. They all looked angry. Maybe they were from another pack. A tanned, blonde hair man, strongly built spoke to us both directly as soon as we entered, "we are from the Trisaen pack, we are in a meeting with the leaders of your's. Please come back to the diner later, we are sorry if this is of inconvenience."

I scanned the room with my eyes, our alpha was at the table nearest the bar, he looked unhappy too. "It's fine, we understand, we'll come back later." Ryan said to the man.

We left through the open door and I turned to face him, "what was that all about?" I asked in curiosity.

"I was thinking the same thing Violet."

Hopefully Ryan's father had done something to piss them off, then that would be a reason to start a war.

Later on that afternoon, after we had been to the supermarket for food and had it at home, Karen knocked on the door, Ryan answered and I stood beside him to introduce Karen to Ryan, and vice versa. I had told Ryan about her, she had helped me through some hard times in the past few months by giving me talks during work to cheer me up when I was feeling low. We all went to the front room afterwards and sat down, "Do you want a drink Karen?" I asked, she looked at me and smiled as she replied "No thank you, I just had one at home before I came here."

"Thanks for cheering up Violet, Karen, I'm glad someone was there to support her." Ryan said to her gratefully.

"It's fine Ryan, she looked unhappy, I was more than happy to make sure she was ok everyday and brighten her day up. So, why is your father so hellbent on not accepting Violet is your mate?" Her face showed slight disgust as she said the last part, I assumed it was because Ryan's father was so cruel to us. In all the history of werewolves, very few fathers had refused to accept their children's mates, let alone kill their families, and lock them in prison cells.

Ryan eventually replied after a few moments of thought, he looked quite angry as thoughts of his father entered his mind, "It's because she was a servant, as you probably already know from Violet, and he will only accept royalty as part of his family. It's quite pathetic really, I'm ashamed to call him my father." He looked down and scratched his arm. It was upsetting to see him like this.

"Me and Ryan, want to stop him, we want to have his position as the 'king' or basically his alpha position away from him. He has no right to lead that pack, yes he was born, and his status is ascribed, but he shouldn't be allowed to rule like that. One day that pack will be driven into the ground by that man." I said to Karen.

She looked at me with understanding and total agreement, "Well, if you have a good plan to stop him, then let me know, I'm in."

I got up off the sofa and moved quickly to Karen to hug her, we didn't even have a plan yet and she was ready to support us! She was a great friend. I could see we all had a great future ahead of us.

{A/n I've had writers block this week and my hand got burned in chemistry, it's ok now though lol, thank God. Watch out for regular updates, I will force my brain to think of something, writer's block will not stop me! I think Princess Sky's POV might be interesting for the next chapter, maybe it will show what's been going on in the castle since Ryan escaped..}

Oh and, If I've made any mistakes, I'm sorry, I'll go over the whole story when it's finished and improve it and remove any mistakes I miss when checking over..
