~3 months later~

I woke up early as it was nearly time to go to work, at the supermarket. I pulled my work blouse over my growing bump and got my trousers on after I'd showered and dried my hair.

'Goodmorning Ryan.' I said to him through mind link. He wouldn't reply, but there was a chance he would hear me. Our bond was still in place but he couldn't talk to me for some reason. I had got a job at the supermarket a few months ago, about a month after Ryan was taken, I just worked away everyday from 9 till 5, then I went home, where I ate my food and basically drifted through life alone.

The baby was doing fine the doctor said at each regular checkup, and I declined his offer to tell me the sex. I couldn't wait to find out, but I wanted Ryan to be here. I wondered how he was, whether he was happy. He promised he would be back, when he last spoke to me, hopefully he would escape in time to see the baby's arrival into the world.

I ate porridge and it reminded me of when I was in the castle and Ryan let me sit on his bed to eat breakfast with him, and the day he left when he complained about cereal.

A tear came to the edge of my eye and I wiped it away with my jacket sleeve. The girls had moved out a month ago as they had all got jobs, apart from Anne who went to the local school now, that's why it was so quiet now. Some of the girls have met their mates in this pack. It must have been fate to come here I concluded.

I sighed and washed my bowl. Then I started walking to work after I left the sleek building that was my home. My bump was sticking out quite a bit now, it reminded me of Ryan as I knew our child was inside me. Our miraculous creation from the first night we mated. When I go to sleep at night I hug my warm bump as I lie on my side, the baby kicks in the night and wakes me up when I eventually fall to sleep. Its as if she or he is nocturnal. I smiled as I looked down proudly at my bump as I walked.

When I got to the store I greeted Karen, the woman who worked the main till, the first person I met in the store, the day that I fell over.

"Good morning Violet! How are you?" she smiled warmly as she watched me sit down at the till next to her's as I asjusted my belt so my trousers weren't too tight around my bump when I was sitting down , "I'm ok thanks, same as usual really."

"Oh," she slowly said, she knew I was unhappy about Ryan being away. I had told her everything, she was a true friend to me, she helped me get through the day without crying at being alone, and she listened to my worries.

Her mate died 5 years ago, defending this pack when Ryan's father tried to take over.. She was heart broken when it happened she told me, but she was moving on. She had a small son, 6 years old. He was at school while she ran the shop. She was living proof you could go on without your mate. I couldn't imagine the pain she must have gone through when the bond was broken as he passed away. This was another reason to hate Ryan's father. I despised everything he had done. I wasn't going to storm in the castle though or anything, his actions were no excuse to act irrationally. I was going to keep my cool and be calm, my baby would depend on me, it needed me to be calm and not lose my cool over that man.

We settled down and chatted while the first customers entered the shop, it was going to be a long day. I hope Ryan will be back soon, I realised I thought that every second of everyday. I would do as long as he was in that castle.

Ryan's POV

The past 3 months I've tried to escape the castle. Its as if I'm a prisoner here, even though I'm the king's son. I don't call him father anymore, I hate his guts. He has taken me away from my beloved mate, then he got technicians and scientists to put up a special barrier which cuts off mind links.

He paid them to sit with their mates, testing metals and elements as barriers for mind links. Finally they found one, Iron. The insides of the castle walls have been reinforced with Iron plates which repel messages wolves try to send to their mates. Well me in particular.

They found the secret tunnel and filled the start in with concrete.

My ways out have been destroyed, I can't talk to my mate. She's pregnant and I can't look after her.

"Ryan!" My mother screeched. I was going to be late for the special lunch my family were putting on. I ran down the stairs, tying my tie as I bounded down two steps at a time.

I slowed down and entered the dining hall, my father sat with my mother at the end of the table and classical music echoed in the large room, creating a soft atmosphere. I sat down, after pulling my chair out violently.

My father glared at me, then his eyes flew to the door as it opened. I followed his gaze and noticed a young woman enter in a baby blue fitted dress. She was very pretty, I have to admit, and she was wearing a tiara, lined with small silver and pink jewels which complimented her dress.

She walked over and spoke to me as she sat by me, "Why good afternoon Prince Ryan. It is so nice to finally meet you," she said elegantly.

"Yeah, hello." I replied sharply.

"Sorry Princess Sky about my son's attitude, he is not happy at the moment. Ryan, this is Sky, she is a widow at only 20 years old. Her mate was killed last year."

Sky smiled sadly at my father and set a napkin onto her lap with her delicate hands. "Oh, so you know what its like to have your mate taken from you too, eh?" I said, purposely to make my father to feel bad.

"Your mate passed away? I'm so sorry to hear that." She said calmly as she looked into my eyes.

"No, my father took me away from her."

"Oh." The atmosphere got very tense and she didn't know what to do with herself so she was twiddling her thumbs, awkward was only one way of describing the atmosphere.

My father was giving me death stares, "well when you know everything princess, you may understand."

"I don't think I'll ever understand anyone taking someone away from their mate, no matter who they are." I was starting to like Sky, she openly showed she disapproved of my father's actions, even when she didn't know the whole story. She understood that a mate, was a mate, no matter what happened you would love them.

My mother broke the short silence by saying, "Ryan, why don't you court this young lady. She is a respectable princess and you both need new partners."

I stood up, my chair slid backwards and toppled over to the floor with a bang. "That's enough!" I shouted, I wasn't ready for anyone else, not now, not ever. I just wanted my true mate, not a posh princess to replace her. How DARE my mother think that my true mate was replaceable. "The only person I want is my mate! But is it easy for me? NO! My mate is pregnant!" I was close to letting Caden take control and trash the place, but I kept control, to finish making my verbal point, "I need to protect her, look after her, and be there when my child is born, how the fuck can I do that in here?!"

I threw my hands in the air in despair then I practically ran out of the room. My mother's face was one of pure horror, and my father looked disbelieving at what he was seeing. I wasn't prepared to stand by and let them destroy everything I had anymore. I needed an escape, ASAP.

I finally let my wolf take control and I grew bigger and hairier till I was in wolf form. I ran out of the front door, knocking an antique vase over on the way; smashing it to smitherines. I ran to the edge of the castle grounds at the back of the castle and stood in the sunshine howling in anger. Caden was getting increasingly angry and harder to control, he wanted our mate, and so did I.
