Chapter 10

Ryan's POV

After countless minutes of walking through the dark tunnel, I saw the opening, there were trees surrounding it, the last part of the tunnel was uphill to reach the surface, the rest must have been underground I figured. When I left the tunnel, it was dark outside and I could see the moon glowing in the sky amongst the small randomly scattered stars. I sniffed the cool air for Violet's scent and when the wind blew from the East, I smelled a trace of it, her strong, feminine, flowery smell. I started making my way through the trees to it and it slowly got stronger.

Half an hour later it was very strong to me, mates can smell each other much better than they can smell other wolves. My searching became more defined as I started glancing over hedges and round trees as I could smell her close, but I still couldn't see her dainty figure among the shadowy trees, "Violet, honey, are you near?" I called, I didn't recieve a reply so I got Caden to contact Dana through mind link. 'Dana, can you hear me? We are quite near but we can't see you.'

'I hear you, we are by the largest tree we could find, Violet is sleeping as she was exhausted. I did tell her to stop but she was adament on finding shelter and finally gave up.'

'I will find the tree and come to you as quickly as I can.'

I spotted the largest tree after glaring up towards the tree tops which were lit by the moonlight, it was only a few metres away. I trod in some deep sludge and pulled my shoe out then reached the tree. My feet crunched in the dry leaves from last Autumn and I rounded the tree.

There she was, Violet was curled up, hugging her stomach, fast asleep, leaning against the uncomfortable tree. I lifted her into my arms carefully as not to wake her and thought of which way it would be best to go. She rested her head against my chest and I felt her long hair brush my arm as she did so. 'I'm so glad she is ok' Caden told me, I agreed. I started walking East from the tree I was facing and started smelling some of Violet's friends. The girls were quite close.

Violet stirred and opened her eyes, her eye lashes fluttered and she gazed up at me sleepily, her voice broke the eery silence in the forest and made it at once more bareable, "Ryan, where are we?"

"Trying to find a place to stay. Your friends are near, can you smell them?"

"Yes, I can, maybe they got lost or have been going round in circles," she chuckled to herself and I smiled at her because I was glad she was safe, and that the baby was safe, also that she didn't seem too troubled by the whole ideal of running away.

I jumped at the sight of movement between a pair of small trees and I heard the rustling of leaves. I hugged Violet close, protectively. Then a girl appeared before me, looking worried and lost, "Prince Ryan! Violet! You came? We are lost Prince Ryan but I think we are getting closer to a pack." The girl said, I believed her name to be Georgina.

"Well I'll sniff out a pack if I can, Georgina is it? And yes, we ran. Oh, Violet, why did you carry on when Dana asked you to stop so we could catch up?" I asked. I wanted to know because it took me longer to locate her and she could have been exposed to danger, such as rogues wandering around at night, or wild animals which could be harmful. After all, I didn't want any harm to come to her or the baby, it would break me if anything bad happened to either of them. I would be nothing without my mate.

"Well, I wanted shelter and the cold tunnel just wasn't doing me any justice." She replied truthfully, then she turned her head to the girl and asked her "Georgina, where are the other girls?" So I was right about her name then.

"Just up ahead," I listened eagerly to absorb all the information being thrown at me about being lost, Violet's reasons for leaving the tunnel. I decided I'd had enough listening time and started walking again, I walked past Georgina and came face to face with another girl, "Where is the nearest pack? Come on, use your future alpha sense of smell to find it," she demanded, it wasn't her place to shout at me because I'm a royal future alpha as she stated, but now wasn't the time for arguments.

Loudly I shouted at the girl "I'm trying! Just follow me." My feet sank in the mud and I was getting annoyed with it sticking to my shoe. I was very agitated with the whole situation but I tried not to let Violet see because it would stress her.

My top priority was getting her to a place to stay safely, whether her friends followed or not.

Violet's POV

Ryan carried me in his strong, muscular arms to the entrance of a pack. I looked through the security gate and it looked very futuristic compared to my old pack, and the castle Ryan's pack was managed from.

There were people walking around carrying weird devices which had black, shiny screens, some of the people even talked to them. I wondered what they were for.

The man at the gate caught my attention when his sharp glare met my eyes, I watched as his eyes snapped to Ryan's, "Why are you asking to come in Prince Ryan of.. Wait I need to check some documents. Ah, yes, Prince Ryan of the Brownhill pack?"

"I am no longer a part of that pack, yes my family rules it, but I have left with my mate. We would like somewhere to stay, just for a while, maybe a few months while we sort out where we will live. As you can see, the girls behind me are from a pack which is no longer registered on the datasystem of packs, because the pack they are from, were destroyed."

I listened to his hard tone, "Please can we have a small settlement on the grounds of this pack for a few months, we just need some help to sort our lives out. I will work for you."

"You may speak to the Alpha and give your reasons why he should help you and your friends. Report to Alpha Thomas, the first building to your left as you enter the gate. I'll be watching that you don't cause trouble." The guard announced. He then pressed a button on his control panel and the gate opened electronically. I watched in wonder as to how it worked without someone manually shifting it.

We now had a chance to find a place to live and work for a while. I finally had freedom, and above all, Ryan wasn't trapped in that forsaken castle with them monsters who were his 'family'. I felt eyes follow us as we headed towards the Alpha's building. I hope he isn't too mean I thought. We might just be classed as foreigners to them, but its worth a shot to try create a life for ourselves in a pack.

A/n, I've already wrote the next chapter, vote if you enjoyed this one and I'll upload the next in a few hours!

Also, what's Ryan's father going to do when he finds out they've gone?! Something drastic? -cough- hint -cough- Hope y'all are having a good weekend :D
