Violet's POV.

23rd August

Ryan and I haven't really spoken for two days since my outburst.. The way he was so calm about the way things turned out, like he forgot that his family destroyed my life, it just made my anger boil over completely.

Since he never tried to get close to me or anything. We acted like aquaintances, yesterday I cleaned his room and hoovered the hallway outside his bedroom door and we didn't speak other than when he asked me to make breakfast. I kinda missed his smooth voice. But I still keep reminding myself about the cold reality about my pack.

I climbed out of bed and wandered to the bathroom, on the way I noticed Lily, a girl who usually slept in the 4th bed from the door, wasn't there. Usually I woke before everyone, maybe not this time.. I hoped deep in my heart that if she'd tried to escape that she hadn't been caught. However, this would mean that there would be more guards and they would be more prone to catching us if we attempted to escape.

After I had bathed and got ready, I caught a glimpse of my reflection. My eyes were red, and my skin looked dry. I remembered how fresh-faced I used to be months ago. I used to be happy and content with just going to school everyday and enjoying the summer days, lazing around in the sun. Less work, more play. Here it was more like 'All work, no play.' I longed to feel the summer breeze whistle in my ear and flow through my hair making it fly up in the air.

When I reached Ryan's room I walked straight in to see his small smile appear as he gained my presence.

"Goodmorning Prince Ryan, what would you like for breakfast today?"

"Oh, so she speaks at last!" He exclaimed a bit cheekily. "I'll have the usual porridge if you don't mind. Please, call me Ryan."

"Sure thing, I'll be back soon. And you are my master remember!" I said proffesionally, still like I was only his servant. And not his mate. I saw him frown a bit as I turned to walk away. Suddenly I felt a hand close around my arm, stopping me in my tracks, I wondered how he had reached me so fast, "Please Violet, be my friend. I don't want you to just be a servant."

"What would you rather me be?"

"My.. Friend?"

"I suppose I will have to fulfill this wish seen as I'm your servant." I winked and slid out of his grip and practically ran away down the hall. I heard his laugh echo behind me.

"Pack us both some lunch too, we're going out." He called behind me.

Finally I get to leave the castle for a while. Why is he being so nice though I thought. 'We need to decide Violet, run, or be with our mate.' Dana said. She hadn't been speaking much since my outburst the other day. 'I don't know yet Dana, I mean, we could run but where would we go? Also rejecting our mate by running away will cause us both pain.'

'So you want to stay?'

'Uhm, I don't know to be honest.'

Dana and I debated this a little further while I made the lunches for later and breakfast. I ate a bowl quickly so I wouldn't waste away and plopped a drink and another bowl of porridge onto a tray.

After Ryan ate breakfast he stood up and grabbed a backpack and for the first time in ages, he left his room. "Follow me." He said, so I glided down the grand stairs behind him. I waited by the front door, as Ryan went to pack the lunches into his bag, and admired the enquisite designs of the oval doorframe, thin strips of shining gold intertwined to curve and meet at the top and twist round each other to form a spherical shape. Soon Ryan appeared by my side and he un-bolted the large red door and trusted me to walk out and not run away.
