Tides of Virtue - Chapter 2 (Fairy Tail Fan-Fiction)
Looking up from the copy of Sorcerer Weekly she was reading, Lucy watched as Serenity paced back and forth with her face screwed up in a nasty scowl. Ever since leaving the restaurant, the Dragon Slayer had been muttering all sorts of incoherent things under her breath and Lucy was just about tired of it. Between her heavy, obnoxious stomping and her angry whispering, Serenity was making it very hard for Lucy to concentrate. Throwing her magazine down on the bench, the Celestial Spirit mage crossed her arms over her chest and glared.
"Hey, what's your deal exactly?" she asked, trying to keep her tone steady despite being a bit irked at the brunettes mumbling.
Turning on Lucy suddenly, Serenity let out a low growl. "That little pipsqueak thinks that he can make fun of my dragon's name and get away with it?! I swear, the next time I see his face, I'm gonna beat him into a bloody pulp!"
Lucy sighed. "Ya know, Sere, beating people into bloody pulps isn't the best way to solve conflicts, right? Maybe tell him that he deeply offended you and ask him to apologize. Then you can avoid causing any damage, because, ya know... We left home, so we can't ask dad to pay for anything that you end up destroying."
Groaning, Serenity threw herself down onto the bench next to Lucy. "I hate it when you're right, Lou. But we're dead-broke right now... We need to join Fairy Tail, asap, so that we can get some income!"
"I see. So you'd like to be in Fairy Tail!" Came a sudden voice behind them.
Startled, Serenity whirled around, and, without thinking, struck the owner of the voice across the jaw. Looking at the person that she'd hit, Serenity saw that it was a man. He wore a dark cloak and was hunched over as he held a hand to the right side of his face.
She gasped in shock. "I am so sorry! You shouldn't sneak up on people like that." The man looked up at her and she realized it was the guy from earlier--Salamander. "Oh. I take it back. I'm not sorry. You called me a little kid so you had it coming."
Swiftly standing, Lucy moved in front of Salamander as he straightened and cracked his neck lightly. "We know you're using charm magic so it doesn't affect us, so why don't you just go away you creep!"
"Touchy." Salamander eyed them carefully. "I had you two figured for mages. However, I wouldn't say I'm a creep."
"I would," Serenity spat.
"What? I just wanted my party to be popular. And well, every party needs a celebrity, right?" He looked at them, his eyes were filled with something dark.
"I'm not buying it." Serenity turned from him and began walking away, Lucy in tow.
"Who'd think a fool like you could ever be a famous wizard!" Lucy yelled back to him.
They didn't get very far before Salamander started after them. "Wait!" he called. "You...said you'd like to enter the Fairy Tail wizard guild, right?" They both stopped and turned to face him, their interest peaked. "You've never heard of...Salamander of Fairy Tail?"
"Oh, don't tell me you're him?" Serenity sighed, running a hand down the side of her face and rolling her eyes in exasperation.
"Yes, my dear," he began, sending a wink at Serenity, "I am. And if you guys want I can put a good word in with the Master."
At that Lucy was all over him.
"Oh! It's going to be such a wonderful party!" she cried, leaning into Salamander who simply patted her nervously on the head. "Can you really get us into Fairy Tail?" She looked up at him with her big, adorable brown-eyes—typical Lucy.
