Tides of Virtue - Chapter 7 (Fairy Tail Fan-Fiction)

The ironclad warrior was stunningly beautiful. A rich waterfall of blood-red hair flowed over her shoulders, her eyes were a deep brown, and her armor teasingly hinted at the full figure beneath it. A thick aura of strength and supremacy floated around her, and her intimidating gaze sent shivers down Serenity's spine. Everyone was silent as the woman stepped over the threshold of the guild and began walking down the aisle in the center.

Abruptly, she stopped in the middle of the hall and dropped the huge, cone-shaped object that she'd been carrying. It hit the ground with a loud, resonating thud. She then glanced around the room icily, surveying everyone carefully.

"Is the Master around?" she finally spoke. Her voice was low and menacing.

Mira waved from behind the bar. "He's at the League meeting currently. I'm afraid you just missed him," she said sweetly.

    "That so...?" Erza trailed.

"H-Hey, Erza?" a brown-haired man called. "What's that enormous thing you brought?"

The redhead placed a hand on the object in question. "Oh, this?" She smiled proudly. "It's a horn from the monster I vanquished. The locals decorated it and gave it to me as a gift." Serenity's eyes wandered to the largest part of the horn and she saw that it was covered with all sorts of gems and stones. "I thought it was rather pretty, so I brought it back as a present. Why? Is it in the way?"

"No!" the man cried. His forehead was sparkling with nervous sweat. "Not at all!"

"By the way." Erza turned to the rest of the guild. "I've hear that you lot have been causing nothing but trouble! The Master may stand for it! But I shall not!" She went on to scold several members of the guild. "Also! Where are Natsu and Gray?" She paused. "Oh! By the way, I heard talk of a new Dragon Slayer--a Water Dragon Slayer, if I heard right. I would like to meet this individual."

Serenity's hand shot into the air. "I'm the Water Dragon Slayer!" She stood from the bar stool she'd been sitting on and walked up to the scarlet-haired woman, who glanced over her critically.

"You don't look like much," Erza said as the brunette stopped in front of her.

The girl was at least a head shorter than she was. Her curly hair fell down to her waist like a whirlwind and her body was curvy and toned. She was certainly pretty, Erza thought, but she reminded her of a tiny teacup pig--cute, yet defenseless.

"True, I don't." Serenity smirked. "However, I can take care of myself, trust me. I beat Natsu in a brawl just a few minutes ago. If you'd been here to see it. You would not be doubting my capabilities."

Erza tilted her head to the side. "Beat Natsu, huh? You will be coming with us as well, then."

"What? What are you talking about?"

"When I was out on a job I heard some disturbing rumors. I was going to ask the Master's opinion on it, but this must be addressed quickly, so I'll make the decision. I'd like you, Serenity, to accompany us--myself, Gray, and Natsu--on a job. I'll explain the details en route." She turned and began to walk away. "We leave tomorrow. Make your preparations and meet at the train station at dawn." Then she was gone.

Blinking rapidly, Serenity returned to her seat at the bar next to Gray and threw back a couple of shots.

"Is she always like that?" she asked.

"Yeah, usually," the Ice-Make magic replied, "but not always."

"I look forward to getting to know her." She turned towards Gray and sent him a mischievous grin. "So, think you can handle a job working with Natsu?"

He shrugged. "I'll be working with you, too, so I think I'll be fine."

Serenity smiled. "Guess we're already going on that job I promised you."

He sighed. "Wasn't exactly what I meant, but it'll do."

Shaking his head, Gray took a drink of his beer. Serenity was almost as dense as Natsu, he thought.
