Tides of Virtue – Chapter 13 (Fairy Tail Fan-Fiction)

The light that danced across her closed eyelids disturbed the serene darkness that held her in its eminent arms, slowly rousing her from the peacefulness of oblivion. Rolling over, she pulled her blankets over her head trying, in vainly, to hide away from the sunlight that seeped through her curtains, but it somehow still managed to annoy her to the point that going back to sleep was no longer an option. Huffing exasperatedly, she threw her blankets back and sat up abruptly, rubbing tiredly at her eyes, before proceeding to stretch and yawn loudly.

Getting on her knees, she began to crawl out of bed, but collapsed back down on her soft sheets, cuddling deep into them. The heaviness of her limbs made her think that she'd been sleeping for an eternity, but if she was in her room that meant that Natsu, Lucy, and Happy had safely gotten her out of the Phantom Lord fortress and that everything was fine, and she probably hadn't slept for more than a few hours, at the most. However, the only thing contradicting that thought was that her wound felt like it was completely healed, and that didn't just happen.

Shooting up onto her knees and sitting back on her calves, Serenity pulled the hem of her night shirt up and saw that her wound was, in fact, completely healed, the only thing acknowledging that it had happened was a nasty white scar. Running a finger along the ridged path of the damaged skin, she also noticed that her hands were clean of blood. Actually, all of her was clean. Had someone washed her? She prayed that it'd been Lucy—anyone else would be embarrassing.

Leaping out of bed, she ran to her door and threw it open, holding her sleep heavy body up using the doorframe. Out in the living room, Erza, Happy, Gray, and Natsu all sat around the dinner table, their heads pressed against its cool wooden surface, frowns pulling at the corners of their lips as Lucy sat helplessly on her bed, her head hung low as she gazed sadly at her hands. Serenity could feel the depression in the air, it was heavy and made it hard to breathe. "What has you all so down?" she inquired, and they all looked up at her like a miracle had just occurred. "What? How long was I out?"

Lucy stood up from her bed and ran toward her, tears flowing from her eyes, and tackled Serenity to the ground, hugging her like she'd never let go. "You were unconscious for an entire week!" she cried. "I was starting to lose hope, but you're okay!"

Smiling, Serenity looked at the others. Erza and Happy were grinning down at her amusedly, and Gray and Natsu seemed completely transfixed by something on her. When she followed their gazes, she realized that she was completely lacking pants and her neon blue underwear was quite visible, because her shirt had gotten pushed up to just above her belly button when Lucy had tackled her.

A scorching blush lit up her cheeks. "Lucy!!!" she cried. "Get off! Get off!" Serenity scrambled out from under her sister, and crawled toward her room, pulling her shirt down as she went. When she was finally inside the safety of her chambers, she slammed the door shut and sat there for a few minutes completely paralyzed with embarrassment, before stumbling to her feet and walking shakily to her dresser.

How humiliating, she thought, pulling out a pair of dark skinny jeans and wiggling her way into them. Sighing, feeling completely lazy, she took out a hair-tie and tied the excess cloth of her over-sized shirt behind her, before moving her hand up to grasp her necklace, which luckily still hung safely around her neck. She didn't know if she was going to be able to walk out there after something as embarrassing as that happening.

Breathing deeply in and out, she walked to the door, but then paused—still completely mortified. Figuring it was better to act tough, she pushed open the door and glared at Gray and Natsu as they looked at her awkwardly. "What did you guys see?" she asked, the threat thickly lacing her words.
