Tides of Virtue – Chapter 15 (Fairy Tail Fan-Fiction)

The sun was high in the sky, its blazing warmth scorching down on them as they volleyed the ball back and forth over the net on the beach of the lovely Akane Resort. There wasn't even the slightest breeze to disturb them, and the water to Serenity's right was calm and tranquil, and she was quite tempted to tackle the Flamebrain into it since he was cheating.

"Natsu!!" she cried, just managing to dive and hit the ball back over the net. "Stop using magic to help the ball over! I'm sure Leo would be furious if he knew that you were cheating at volleyball when he was so nice to give us tickets here!!" Diving again for the ball, she missed, and it hit her face instead of her forearms as she collapsed onto her stomach, the burning white sands hot on her reddening skin. Standing up, she adjusted the straps of her blue bikini and stalked toward the net, slipping under it to the other side where Gray and Natsu stood laughing like two baboons. Behind her, she could also hear Lucy cracking up as well.

"You think that's funny!?" she cried, pushing Natsu toward the water a few steps. "You. Hit. Me. In. The—" saying each word, she pushed him a little closer to water's edge "—FACE!!" she shouted this, before tackling him down, salty seawater splashing up all around them.

"Hey!!" Natsu protested, as Serenity pinned him in the shallows. "I'm all wet now!"

Rolling her eyes, Serenity splashing water in his face. "You're wearing a swim suit! Get over it!"

Struggling beneath her, Natsu tried to free himself, but Serenity held fast. "Come on!" he cried. "Just let me go! I'm getting saltwater in my mouth!"

Giggling, she sat down on his chest and used both her hands to splash water at him. "No way!" she exclaimed. "This is way too fun!"

Suddenly, Natsu grabbed her legs and flipped them over in the water so that he was sitting atop her thighs, pinning her hands above her head. Smiling down at her devilishly, Natsu submerged her head underwater for a few moments before letting her come back up. However, instead of coughing and choking on water like what he'd probably expected, she was laughing so hard that her chest heaved up and down.

"Dummy!" she shouted. "I'm a Water Dragon Slayer! I can breathe underwater!"

Natsu's eyes widened. "Can you really!? That is so not fair!"

Smirking, Serenity slipped her feet out from under Natsu's body and placed them against his abdomen, before breaking her hands out from his grasps and grapping his shoulders. Using the strength in both her arms and legs, she flipped him over top of her into the deeper waters behind them, laughing as he did a painful sounding belly flop.

Swiftly, she dove into the water and stayed beneath its shimmering surface as she swam toward where Natsu flailed angrily around, his feet kick this way and that. Giggling, she grabbed hold of one and gave it a forceful tug, before swimming back a few feet as he started to freak out.

"Lucy!!" he shouted, the sound clear to Serenity's ears, though he was above the surface and her below. "Summon Aquarius! A shark's got me!"

"There's no way I'm summoning her just because you can't swim!" Lucy responded fiercely.

Serenity gave his other leg a stronger tug. This time his head submerged for a short moment, and he immediately began to frantically swim toward the shore. Laughing, Serenity swam in front of him and broke through the water's surface, Natsu almost running right into her.
