The mass of Gryffindor students filed through the Fat Lady painting, making their way to the common room. Ellie and Poppy were sandwiched in between Fred and George, who shoved the occasional person out of the way. They arrived at the common room, and Poppy let out a squeal of excitement.

"Ellie! Look!" She exclaimed, "A piano! We can both practice now!"

"Yes! Brilliant!" Ellie yelled with glee, and immediately took a seat in front of the piano, almost forgetting about the twins.

"Ready Pops?"

"Ready El." Ellie began playing a soft melody on the piano, her reedy fingers punching each key with grace and precision. Poppy began to dance along with the steady rhythm of the tune, making graceful movements of finesse. The two really did make a good team. When Poppy made her finishing pose, and Ellie gently played the last chord, they noticed the whole room had gone silent, and everybody was staring at them in awe, even the twins.

"Wow... That was amazing, El, Pops," George praised, and Fred nodded, slowly clapping his hands. George clapped with him, then Lee, then Harry, and soon enough everybody in the room was praising the two first years. They smiled and laughed at their fellow Gryffindor's, their hair fading to a light pink colour.

Later that evening, most people had gone to bed, and it was just Ellie, Poppy, Harry and the twins awake in the common room. Poppy sat on the end of the sofa closest to the door with her legs propped on Georges lap who sat beside her. Then Ellie, then Fred. Harry sat opposite the quadretti on the big red arm chair.

"So, you liking Hogwarts so far?" Fred asked the first years. Harry nodded with a light smile before looking back at the fire place.

"Yeah, it's brilliant! Ellie and I have already met some awesome people - and some crappy people." Poppy said, content with her first time at Hogwarts.

"Yeah." Ellie agreed half-heartedly, her eyes fixed onto her lap.

"What's wrong, El?" Fred asked, putting an arm around her shoulders. Ellie shakes her head.

"Just miss my brother is all." She replied, still refusing to look at anyone.

"Aw, don't worry, you'll get used to it." George said, tapping her nose, making her laugh.

"You'll forget all about Sam when we start lessons tomorrow, Ellie!" Poppy said, trying her best to console the girl. This statement caused a smile to break out onto Ellie's face.

"Yeah, I suppose." She smiled, seeming to have returned to her usual bubbly self.

"Right, I'm off to bed. You coming, Pops?" Ellie got up, looking at Poppy who nodded before letting out a yawn.

"Yup, I'm exhausted." She chuckled, following her friend up the spiraled staircase and into a narrow corridor. They came to a door close to the end on the left and opened it to find a girl already in the room. The room, much like the common room, had old, dark oak furniture and four poster beds that had red drapes tied at each post. The center of the room was empty of anything but a red and gold rug and there was a door on the left wall which they found out led to the bathroom.

"Oh! Hello!" A girl with frizzy brown hair was sat on one of the beds in the dorm.

"Hiya!" Ellie greeted, Poppy waving at her.

"My name's Hermione, how about you?" The girl smiled, extending her hand towards them.

"Ellie."

"I'm Poppy."

"Nice to meet you." Hermione said, shaking their hands.

"You too." Poppy spoke, yawning again.
