"They look fine to play to me," Madam Pomfrey states.
"I want to play!" Ellie and Poppy yell in unison.
"Don't worry girls, you took a bad blow, you don't have to." Oliver says in his Scottish accent.
"What part of 'I want to play' don't you understand, Wood?" Poppy deadpans, making Ellie laugh.
"I'll be the judge of that," Pomfrey says sternly, sitting in front of Poppy. "How do you feel?"
"Fine."
"Any dizziness?"
"No."
"Any headaches?"
"No."
"Any-"
"No! Just let me play!" Poppy demands, taking the woman aback.
"Very well, then." Madam Pomfrey says, rolling her eyes at the impatient girl. "Eleanor. How's your head?"
"Fine."
"Dizzy?"
"Nope."
"Headaches?"
"Well, obviously, but it's bearable."
"Alright, Wood, they're fine to play."
"Brilliant." He says. Then, unexpectedly, he walks up and hugs each of the girls. The girls tense up slightly, noticing the twins glare protectively at Wood.
"I'll be taking my leave." Oliver smiles at the girls, turning on his heel and walking out the doors. "See you on the pitch."
"That's right." The twins say quietly, sitting in their original spots.
"Calm down, boys." Ellie laughs.
"Yeah, getting a little jealous, are we?" Poppy teases, making the boys' eyes widen.
"We have no idea..." Fred begins.
"What you're talking about." George finishes.
"Totally." Ellie says, smirking."The Queens have arrived!" Poppy announces as her, Ellie and the twins walk into the Great Hall for breakfast.
"Good luck, El, Pops!" Seamus calls with a warm smile.
"Thanks!" They say, sitting down with Harry.
"Go on, take a bit of toast, mate." Ron says, dropping a slice onto Harry's plate.
"Ronald's right, Harry. You're going to need your strength today." Hermione says.
"I'm not hungry." Harry says, his eyes glued to his plate.
"Good luck today, Potter. Then again, now that you've proven yourself against a troll, a little game of Quidditch should be easy work for you," Snape approaches the children, his face the same deadpan as usual. "Even if it is against Slytherin." And with that he limps off, his strides uneven and unsteady.
"That explains the blood..." Harry whispers, accusation dripping in his voice.
"Blood?" Ellie says, confused. She has slight amnesia from her head injury.
"Yes. Snape must've let the troll in as a diversion so he could try and get past that three-headed dog, but he got himself bitten." Harry explains.
"Three-headed dog!? Are you on drugs?!" Poppy exclaims, looking at Harry as if he was an alien.
"Oh... right, you don't know. Ron, Hermione, and I accidentally went to the forbidden floor after the first classes. We saw Filch coming, so we hid in a room, and there was a three-headed dog in there stood on a trapdoor." Harry explains, simply.
"What?!" Poppy shouted a little louder than she meant to.
"Bloody hell, we're gonna need to start hanging with these three more often!" Ellie laughs, intrigued by the story.
"So, you're all filled in?" Ron asks, and Ellie nods.
"I... suppose?" Poppy says, still eyeing the three strangely.
"Ok. Where were we?" Harry says.
"You accused Snape of letting the troll in so he could get past the dog." Ron says.
"But why would anyone go near that thing?!" Hermione remarks.
"The day Hagrid and I were at Gringotts, Hagrid took something out of one of the vaults. He said it was 'official Hogwarts business', very secret." Harry says, a determined glint in his eye.
"So what you're saying is... whatever was in that vault..." Poppy starts,
"...is what the dog is guarding?" Ellie finishes.
"Yes. That's what Snape's after. That's what he wants." Harry concludes.
"You've thought this out pretty well, Harry, but really? Snape?" Ellie says, doubtfully.
"Yeah, he seems nice enough." Poppy agrees.
"Are you bloody mental?!" Ron says, looking at the girls in complete shock.
"What? He's nice!" Poppy defends the man, though she isn't sure why.
"To you!" Ron argues.
"Perhaps it's because Poppy and I pay attention, Ronald." Ellie says, smugly, making Ron glare at her. "Aww, don't be sad, Won-won." She says, pouting playfully and ruffling the ginger's hair.
"Get off!" He laughs, slapping Ellie's arm away."Excited for your first match, girls?" Wood chuckles, watching as the girls jump up and down, squealing as their hair yet again turns bright yellow.
"Yes!" They both exclaim.
"Poppy, Ellie!" The girls smile as they hear the familiar voices.
"Twins!" They call - they decided that that would be their greeting for the gingers.
"Good luck, guys." Fred says, smiling.
"Yeah, you'll do great. But from now on you might wanna avoid Katie Bell and Alicia Spinnet." George warns.
"Who are they?" Ellie asks.
"Th old chasers that you two replaced. They were bloody fuming when they found out they'd been replaced by two first years." Fred says, laughing slightly.
"So just watch out, okay?" George says.
"Of course." Poppy says, smirking at Ellie who smirks back at her. They would definitely be having some fun later on.
"Come on! It's starting, guys!" Wood calls, and Ellie and Poppy share one more excited squeal before skipping out onto the pitch.
"Hello! Welcome to Hogwarts' first Quidditch game of the season! Today's game: Slytherin versus Gryffindor!" Their good friend Lee Jordan announces through a microphone, causing the crowd to go wild. The players all fly into positions, Ellie and Poppy flying round the arena for a bit just to show off.
They fly round, hi-fiving first each other, then the twins, then Lee who jumps to reach both of their hands, and then the rest of the crowd.
"Show-offs!" George mocks as they pass.
"You know it!" Poppy yells back.
"Now! I want a nice, clean game. From all of you!" Madam Hooch demands sternly. After saying this, she bends down to release the balls from their restraints, and they go shooting upwards.
"The Bludgers are up, followed by the golden snitch. Remember, the Snitch is worth 150 points. The Seeker who catches it first wins the game." Lee commentates, watching closely at the game.
"And, finally, the Quaffle is released, and the game begins!"
Ellie immediately shoots for it, grabbing it with ease. The team Captain, Marcus Flint darts towards her, so she hurls the Quaffle towards Poppy, who flings it through one of the hoops. Then Angelina Johnson catches it effortlessly and starts back for the hoops. She passes it to Poppy, who takes it and returns to the hoops.
"Pops, watch out!" She hears and she can only move just in time to miss Slytherin's team captain charging towards her like a bull. Ellie sees this, and quickly moves towards her. Poppy recognises her tactic, and she throws the ball to Ellie, who puts it through the hoops again, scoring more points for her house.
The game continues like this, the two new Chasers scoring points left and right with ease.
"Bloody hell, they're beasts!" Fred exclaims, George nodding with a laugh.
"Gimme that." Marcus Flint grunts before snatching a club off of another Slytherin player. He then beats a Bludger with all his might, sending it straight towards Poppy without her noticing. As she turns around, her eyes widen, and she flinches, bracing for the blow. Then she hears a whoosh and opens her eyes to see that George had batted the Bludger away, flashing her a charming smile before flying off. Ellie wolf-whistles, causing Poppy to yell at her, using rather colourful language, her hair tinging to a light pink.
She rolls her eyes and passes Ellie the ball who slings it into the goal, earning them another ten points.
"Another ten points to Gryffindor!" Lee exclaims, the crowds oohing and ahhing at the newbies' talent.
"Take that side." Marcus orders, and him and another Slytherin bash into Poppy and Ellie's sides, sandwiching them into eachother, similar to how Fred and George do, but much more violent.
"Get off, you git!" Poppy grunts, bashing into Marcus. He doesn't say anything, he merely stays where he is, his eyes widening as the four plummet closer and closer to the hard ground.
Ellie looks at Poppy and she nods - it was like they could read each other's minds. The boys expect them to chicken out and give up, but they keep falling and falling. The two Slytherins look at each other with terrified eyes before pulling up on their brooms, flying away from them. Then the girls do the same, barely missing the ground.
"He's done it! Harry Potter has caught the Golden Snitch!" Lee chants, half of the stands erupting into cheers and applause.
"Told you we'd kick your asses!" Poppy mocks, turning to the Slytherin team.
"Beaten by first years. How pathetic." Ellie smirks before turning to her best friend and hugging her."Harry, you did it!" Poppy exclaims, each of the girls giving him a quick hug.
"You should've seen yourselves! You were incredible, guys!" Harry replies, an ecstatic grin on his face.
"He's right. You two were absolute legends!" Fred says, the twins coming up behind them. The girls turn to see their two favourite gingers smiling down at them. Then, without warning, Fred hauls Ellie onto his shoulders, George doing the same with Poppy. The girls now stand triumphantly on the twins' shoulders.
"Here's to Poppy, Ellie and Harry!" Fred yells over the chatter.
"Ellie, Poppy, you two are the best Chasers we've had since, well, ever!" George says proudly.
"And Harry, you're the first ever first year to become a Seeker!" Fred finishes, winking at Harry. The crowd bursts into applause, every one of them cheering and shouting for the new Chasers and Seeker. All but two, those being Katie Bell and Alicia Spinnet.
