Chapter 1: Starting in London

Chapter 1:

As he made his way through London traffic, he was fuming. This wasn't how he wanted to start his morning out.

Simon Cowell was headed to his office at Syco Music because he had something very important to do. Something that they wanted him to do.

They were One Direction, the biggest boy band in the world, and they wanted Simon to do them a favor. They told him that it would mean a lot to them if he did it.

Simon didn't want to do it. He had planned to stay at home with his beautiful fiancee, Lauren, and their adorable son, Eric. The fact that he had had to change plans because of the 5 guys that he helped put on the map on the UK X-Factor angered him greatly.

Still, Simon figured that it had to super important to the guys so he reluctantly agreed to do it despite his own misgivings.

As soon as he got himself inside his office, there they were. 5 sweet, smiling faces staring at him from the long couch that was opposite his large desk. Simon could feel his heart melt as he looked at them.

The sweet, smiling faces Simon was looking at belonged to Fifth Harmony, the girl group he had helped form and mentor on the American X-Factor. Like One Direction, Fifth Harmony had finished in third place, but Simon had believed in them so much that he signed them to Syco and convinced LA Reid to sign them to his label, Epic Records.

It turned out to be a mistake. LA Reid hated the girls and did nothing to support them. Despite constant touring, an EP called Better Together, and a hit single called "Miss Movin' On", the girls were pretty much left for dead at Epic until Simon, realizing what was going on, stepped in.

He bought out the girls' contract with Epic and convinced the folks at RCA Records to give Ally, Lauren, Camila, Dinah, and Normani a chance. It proved to be the right move as the girls' first album went platnuim and helped begin their ascent to superstardom.

Now here was Simon about to tell Fifth Harmony something he was sure that they would or wouldn't want to know about. Still, he had to do it or One Direction were never going to forgive him.

Simon braced himself and got himself ready for what he was about to do.

This wasn't going to be easy.
