Chapter 24: Time for the Big Show

After appearing on the Graham Norton Show as well as Capital Breakfast, both 1D & 5H began rehearsing at the O2 Arena, one of London's biggest venues before appearing on the X Factor finale.

For both groups, this show was majorly important. For the girls, it was a chance to prove themselves because there were still some critics out there that didn't believe in them. 

For the guys, it was a chance to prove that they could still be big in their homeland two & a half years after Zayn had left, & the others went on hiatus. Still, it didn't stop either group from being nervous.

Still, they knew deep down that they could pull it off.

After dazzling the crowd at the X Factor finale at Wembley Stadium, the nerves increased as the concert at the O2 Arena got closer. 

Niall in particular was very nervous & sad at the same time, & there was a reason why.

He had gotten word that his girlfriend, Demi Lovato, might not make it due to work commitments, & that bummed him out. He also tended to get nervous before a big show anyway.

Still, his sadness over Demi not being able to make it was, in his mind, the worst thing that could ever happen to him.

However, he was about to get a big surprise.

Earlier in the day, Normani had heard from a friend that Demi was actually trying to get to London so she could see the concert, but that her flight out of Los Angeles kept getting delayed.

Normani decided to do something about the problem, & she knew just what to do. She called Simon Cowell.

"Please do this, Simon. It would mean so much to Niall if you did," said Normani. "Well, Mani, if it's that important to you & the others, I will see what I can do," said Simon with a chuckle. "Thank you," said a relieved Normani.

After hanging up her phone, she just hoped that he would keep his word.

Turns out, she had nothing to worry about because 30 minutes before the show started, Demi showed up.

Niall saw her & ran right to her, giving her a big kiss after taking her in his arms.

"I'm so happy to see you, baby," said Niall. "So am I. I'm so happy that I made it here," said Demi. "How did you get anyway?" asked Harry. Demi smiled & pointed right at Normani.

"If it hadn't been for Mani calling Simon, I never would've made it here," she said. Niall then went right to Normani & gave her a big hug.

"Thanks, Mani," said a smiling Naill. "You're welcome," she said with a grin of her own.

Then it was showtime.

With Demi in her VIP seat, One Direction took to the stage & started with "Drag Me Down", which caused the crowd to go crazy. The song had been arranged a bit differently to allow Zayn to sing a part since he had been out of the group when the song was originally recorded.

After finishing their set, the guys went backstage & got ready to have some fun as Fifth Harmony took to the stage.

The girls started with "Sound of The Underground" with Niall on electric guitar, which got the crowd warmed up. When they got to "Worth It", the crowd really went crazy.

Both groups then came onstage to sing "We Stand Together", which was now a giant hit in the UK, debuting at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart. It was still there despite new songs by Adele, Justin Bieber, and Little Mix debuting in the top 10.

Demi watched with a mix of both love & pride. Seeing Niall  perform with four guys that he loved like brothers was amazing to see for her. Seeing Fifth Harmony do their thing made her so proud of them because the girls had come a long way since their days on the American X Factor.

After that show, everything was right in the world for both One Direction & Fifth Harmony.
