Anyway, continue.

[Narrator's POV]

"Beka," Yuri whispers, shaking Otabek's shoulder softly.

Otabek continues snoring.

Yuri shakes him once more. "It's time to get up, Beka...Beka..."

This time, Otabek groans sluggishly in response before immediately falling back asleep.

"OTABEK!" Yuri shouts, whacking a pillow down on Otabek's face.

"AH!" Otabek scrambles to sit upright, searching the room frantically until finally laying eyes on Yuri. "What?!"

"The cab is waiting outside, get dressed." Yuri says shortly before turning to leave.

"Wha—What cab?" Otabek asks, half-asleep and confused.

"The cab taking us to the airport. Our flight to Kazakhstan is in..." Yuri whips out his phone. "Three hours."

"Yuri. When I said you should meet my family, I didn't mean the next day." Otabek says, rubbing his eyes sleepily. "Did you tell Yakov about this?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's fine." Yuri answers, waving his hand to dismiss the subject as he taps away on his phone with the other.

Otabek sighs and slowly hauls himself out of bed. "Alright. I'm coming, I'm coming."

"Yes!" Yuri flashes a grin at Otabek before hurrying out the door.

"But you're buying me breakfast at the airport!" Otabek calls after him.

"As if! I paid for your ticket!" Yuri shouts back.

The sound of the front door opening and slamming shut interrupts Otabek before he can argue any further. He laughs and shakes his head slowly as he pulls together any clothes he can find in the packing mess Yuri made.

Whilst rummaging through the draws, Otabek pulls out a tiger onzie.

Is this...Yuri's? He wonders.

The image of Yuri in a tiger onzie instantly occupies Otabek's mind.

"...Cute..." Otabek mutters.

Don't get distracted! He scolds himself before returning to his search.

After slipping on some jeans and a grey hoodie,Otabek heads outside and joins Yuri in the cab.

*Time skip to the airport*

.

"Would you mind watching my bag? I have to go to the bathroom." Otabek asks apologetically.

"Yeah no problem." Yuri replies.

"Thanks." Otabek hands Yuri his duffle bag before heading off towards the toilets.

Yuri watches as Otabek walks away. As soon as he is out of sight, Yuri drops the bag and frantically dials Paula's number. He taps his finger anxiously on the phone against his ear as it rings. Eventually it stops and Paula's impatient voice answers,

"Yuri. You called me half an hour ago, what is it now?"

"I'm...just...making sure you remember to water my plants." Yuri says casually.

The phone call falls silent for a moment...

"Is that all, or are you going to call me again thirty minutes from now?" Paula says finally.

"No, Otabek will be back by then—I, I mean, no. No. I just wanted to make sure you remembered the plants..." Yuri insists, not so casually.

"I sense something is bothering you that Otabek doesn't know about, so I'm gonna go." Paula replies bluntly.

"The truth is Paula, for the first time in my life I'm questioning my confidence." Yuri starts.

Paula sighs through the phone.

"Ever since Otabek moved to Russia, we have become really close and suddenly I find myself worrying about impressing him, All. The. Time— It's very exhausting." Yuri continues. "I feel so insecure around him, he makes me concern about my every move and for some reason I get embarrassed over every little thing—it's like, Yuri Plisetsky doesn't need the approval of others. Yuri Plisetsky doesn't get flustered, he is cool. He is a soldier—"

"Yuri, first of all stop talking about yourself in third person it is very concerning." Paula interrupts. "Second, stop stalling and just tell me what you want from me so I can get on with watering your damn plants."

"Okay! Okay." Yuri takes a deep breath. "I'm really anxious about meeting Otabek's family. What if they don't like me?..." He lets out a sigh and adds dispiritedly, "...I really want them to like me..."

"Yuri honey, of course they'll like you. Otabek likes you doesn't he?" Paula comforts before muttering, "He likes you a lot..." She clears her throat and speaks to Yuri again. "Just be yourself and you'll be fine. And I'm not talking about 'The Soldier Yuri Plisetsky' or any of that crap. I'm talking about the earnest boy that I have come to know...okay?"

"O-Okay." Yuri croaks. He bites his quivering lip as he hangs up the phone.

Otabek comes jogging back from the bathrooms and clasps Yuri on the shoulder. "Who was that?"

"Otabek!" Yuri jumps in fright and quickly wipes his eyes clean. "Wha—Uh, nothing—I mean no one. It was just Paula; I had to remind her to water the houseplants while we're gone."

"Were you about to cry?" Otabek asks.

"You're crying!" Yuri says defensively.

"Wow. You really must care about the health of those plants." Otabek jokes.

"Yeah, well," Yuri sniffs. "They have just been there for me for a long time. Before you moved in, you know, I had no one to talk to. It was really lonely in the apartment. I just never appreciated how much they do for me until now..."

"The...houseplants?..." Otabek says slowly.

Yuri stares down at Paula's contact. He clears his throat as he turns his phone off and slips it into his pocket. "Anyway, let's get going. We don't want to be late for our flight."

"Okay." Otabek smiles and wraps his arm around Yuri's shoulders as they walk forward. "Let's go, Yura."
