[Yuri's POV]
"You know, you still haven't named the cat." Otabek says suddenly.
We are sitting on the floor of the living room. Otabek is still adjusting the song but it sounds awesome! As for me, I've finished designing the outfits but...I don't know...it all seems too simple. Something is missing and I can't think of what.
"I have had a lot of stuff to think about. What's wrong with just calling him kitty?" I ask.
"Well first of all it's a girl." Otabek answers.
I gasp. "Kitty! Why didn't you tell me you're a girl?"
"Because cats can't talk, Yuri." Otabek cuts in bluntly. "It doesn't have balls. Seriously. Did you ever pay attention in biology?"
I poke my tongue out and continue glaring at my costume designs. "Black is cool and all, but don't you think these need...I dunno...just a little something more?"
Both of our outfits are well coordinated, not just because they are all black but the design too. I'll be wearing fishnet tights, a black singlet-leotard and a little black skirt. Otabek's outfit is reversed, being that he is wearing a fishnet top and plain, black leggings.
Otabek looks over my shoulder. "I think they look good."
"Yeah but, there's just something, ya know?" I say.
"No. I don't know." Otabek replies. "But we need to practice our skating program now, you can think about that afterwards. I've only booked the ice rink for an hour."

.
Our routine is going pretty good too. We have practiced the different steps and planned it all out, but today will be the first time putting it all together and performing in one go. As our outfits haven't been made yet, we just have to skate in our casual training wear. I'm a little self-conscious, it's going to be a bit awkward without the music.
I take a deep breath as I glide onto the ice.
All I have to do is think of the rhythm of the music while I skate. I remember the first time I listened to it—the story that unfolded within my mind as it played. True, it sounds badass and makes you want to dance, but it's a little deeper than that.
My legs begin skating on their own as my mind explores the tale that the song tells.
At the start, it sounds mysterious and intriguing. Then the beat gets quicker and more playful, almost like the music is teasing you. During the middle of the song it is fast and intense but more than anything fun; it makes you feel wild and free. And lastly, at the very end, it slows to an interesting sound like at the beginning—but it isn't mysterious in an enchanting way, more like frustrated curiosity.
The music sounds like a bad boy playing with someone's emotions but for some reason the story beneath it feels more loving. Almost like a cross between Eros and Agape. At the start, the first person is tempted by the playboy. In the middle of the song is fun and carefree, much like their growing relationship, but in the end it becomes confusing. The playboy is still teasing the first person, they have been since the beginning of the song, but despite this the first person continues to love them because just like the music, the playboy makes them feel wild and free.
Otabek and I move in sync as if we are both a part of the story ourselves. I cannot describe the feeling of staking with him. It is amazing. My heart beats to the rhythm of our feet, the scraping of our skates on the ice like music to my ears. I feel the energy and warmth surge through his body and into my own as though we have become one.
...I understand how Victor and Yuuri feel now. I have found my other half.
As the end of the routine draws near, I begin to feel saddened with separation anxiety. I don't want it to end. I want to feel the warmth and life of his body.
...But it has to.
We part ways and finish on a strong pose.
Otabek throws his fist in the air triumphantly. "Aw, YES! Not bad for a first try, aye? We finished just in time too, come on let's go home. We deserve a break after that awesome performance."
I watch Otabek glide further and further away as he approaches the exit of the rink. My chest tightens, my heart aching. Being this close with Otabek—doing something so intimate as a pair skate—it just reminds me of how far away he really is. In those few moments of skating with him, it feels so amazing, but I sure hope it isn't this heart-wrenching every time.
.
.
"I thought I told you we deserve a break?" Otabek says.
"Yes but I still can't point out what's missing from these outfits and it's really frustrating." I reply stubbornly.
Otabek loses interest in the conversation. He begins wiggling his finger at the kitten before quickly pulling his hand away when she swipes. "This little tiger sure is feisty."
"Tiger..." I repeat as I stroke my chin. "That's it!"
"What?" Otabek asks.
"It's the answer to all my problems!" I exclaim excitedly. "You've helped me figure out a name for the cat and what is missing from our outfits!"
"I don't understand." Otabek says. "What did I do?"
I smile smugly. "Well, I guess you'll just have to wait and see."
