[Yuri's POV]

Every nerve of my body is trembling. My stomach is doing flips. My mind is racing at a million thoughts per second.

Otabek also seems fidgety, but he is quivering of excitement rather than anxiety.

"I can't wait to give Ally a big hug! She must have grown so much since I last saw her," Otabek chatters.

Ally is the nickname Otabek has given his little sister, Alina. I really want to meet Otabek's family, the people who have made him who is, the people who he loves dearly; but at the same time, hearing him talk so highly of them makes me really nervous. He obviously values their opinions so what if they disapprove of me?

"I hope we have a huge family barbeque, we had them every weekend when I lived at home. And I can make you some shashlik! It's the only thing I know how to cook." Otabek rambles on happily. "And—oh, we're here!"

The cab slows to a stop in front of a small house painted a pale yellow with a brown, slated roof. Otabek climbs out of the cab, slings his bag over his shoulder and opens my door for me to get out. I haul my suitcase out of the trunk and force a nervous smile as I approach the front door.

Otabek gives the old, wooden door two hurried knocks before bursting inside. "We're home!"

I poke my head inside timidly and look around. Most of the interior is wood, furnished with warm colored furniture—nothing like the modern, white-tiled apartments I'm used to in the city—but it gave the house sort of a homey feeling.

"Otabek!" A small, brunette woman comes scuttling out of the kitchen and throws her arms around Otabek.

"Where's Pa?" Otabek asks as he returns the hug.

A burly man with black hair strides out, smiling fondly at us. "Welcome home, son."

I immediately assume these two adults to be Otabek's parents. His mother is quite tiny, being no taller than I am, whereas his father is just a bit taller than Otabek himself. From what I remember, his mother's name is Mariash but everyone calls her Maria and his father is Serikbek or Serik for short.

Otabek's father shifts his gaze from his son, to me. "This must be the soldier Yuri Plisetsky," He flashes a dashing smile as he holds out his hand. "Pleased to meet you at last. I'm Otabek's father, Serik."

I straighten my posture and reach out to shake Serik's hand. "The pleasure is mine, sir."

Serik's grip crushes my fingers to the bone. I would be utterly terrified of this man if his expression weren't so innocently happy.

Otabek's mother had finally stopped kissing him to watch me, bouncing on her heels as she anticipates her turn to greet me. As soon as Serik lets go of my hand, she rushes over to grab it with both of hers.

"My name is Maria. We have heard so much about you, ever since Otabek joined that training camp when he was only little. It's about time he finally brought you home. I do hope you don't blame him for being shy—"

"Ma!" Otabek cuts in, his cheeks going red.

Seeing Otabek in a family environment, his parents treating this masculine young man like a little boy, I can't help but grin.

"Oh isn't he cute." Maria praises. "He has such a nice smile." She steps closer to admire my face. "Beautiful eyes. And such a delicate complexion..."

As I look down into her caring, brown eyes, I recognize them instantly to be Otabek's. He is built like his father but actually looks a lot like his mother now that I see it; they both have a warm and loving expression that puts me at ease.
