Beth did met new friends in her new school. Though feeling a little awkward in her tight uniform with a skirt, she managed to pull on a smile on her face when her teacher introduced her to the class of swarming pre-teen girls: Hair fixed in ponytails, shoes shiny like a metal shined with much polish she could ever find.
So, fine. She was kidding. She met a few girls but they aren't still considered as her 'friends'. She knew better than to trust immediately. She knew better. Trust is hard to give.
She spent the rest of the day listening to a few introductions and giving expectations to the class proper. It was never fun since she doesn't like sitting on a chair for hours.
2 more hours till home.

"So, how was school, funky?" James asked when he saw her coming in the front door.
"T'was fine, brother," she placed a stress on the word brother so that he would know that she is drop-dead serious in contempletating her thoughts at the moment. "What about you?"
"It was fine too, I guess. Hey, did you know that we learned about the pendulum today?"
"Spare me your lectures about Science, James. I'm too tired to mess around today."
"Bet those girls are really hyper - oh Sally," he stopped midway of what he most likely to tease me about - my all- girls' school. Yeah, fantastic. I want a toast with that.
"Hey, James," she acknowledged him with a smile. She turned her gaze to Beth and said, "Go on to the kitchen and help yourself with a snack. I'm going to do some laundry today."
After organizing her business, she went to take some Oreos in the cupboard. And suddenly, an idea popped into her mind.
"I'm going biking."
"Can I come?" James suddenly stopped at the door.
Beth suddenly remembered the day he first encountered the boy who wouldn't tell his name. She felt a small churn in her stomach knowing that she and James might see him.
"Why?" She asked trying not to sound suspicious.
"Why not?" He laughed. She wasn't too keen with the idea but she decided to agree.
"Well, perhaps you need some air too,"she smirked.
"Of course I do, Zab."

The two of them went to take their bikes from the garage and started pedalling into the pavement.
"Hey, it nice in here," James pointed out. He continued pedaling and avoided the bushes near him.
She kept smiling the whole time. When they reached her tree, she instructed James to park the bike near it and take some rest.
"I always come here in summer," Beth said.
"I know," he grinned.
"You're creepy. How did you know that?" She accused him with a laugh.
He showed his pearly whites and said "I just know."
Beth looked around and her eyes trailed into the tree. The boy didn't returned since that day. 'Maybe I scared him away,' Beth thought. But without a doubt, she is somehow happy to be alone in her special place.

That evening while having some dinner, Annie bought up the idea of spending a time at the mall.
"There's a mall here?" Beth asked excitedly.
Sally looked up from here plate and smiled, "Of course, dear."
"Great!"
She was planning on buying new outfits for school and some good pair of shoes since she threw some of her old clothes out when moving from their old home.
"Let's go on Saturday," her dad suggested.
"Yeah, dad?" All of them looked at him with surprise.
"You are coming with us, Mr. Lewis?" Now is Sally's turn to ask.
"I'll take a day off. I was realizing that I spend lesser time with my kids."
"Oh my gosh, thank you, dad," Beth exclaimed. "It will be fun, is it James?"
"Yeah, dad. It will be," James answered with a smile, winking at Beth.
