Ivor sat in his alchemy room, whipping up an extra couple of potions for Jesse. He scribbled in his notebook as he tested new recipes for potions, examining each minor and major detail along with any consequences or good dealings. Every five minutes or so he would glance at the box of chocolates and rose sitting on his coffee table, wondering if she would ever accept him.
"Hey, Ivor!", the man looked up, glancing towards the door. Jesse stood there, holding the enchanted flint and steel in his hands. " You want these? I heard from Lukas that you wanted to visit Harper?", he questioned, walking inside the room and handing Ivor the essential portal-hopping tool. "Yeah...thanks, Jesse.", Ivor sighed, taking them. Jesse frowned. " Are you okay?" "I'm just not sure what she'll think of me."
Jesse laughed, shaking his head. "Please, the way you two were talking to each other after the portal adventure, even I'd believe that you two have something for each other. Love isn't just made for the young!", he zipped off, leaving Ivor holding the flint with a dumbfounded expression. " Maybe she will think good of me.", Ivor mumbled, putting the tool up and closing his book. He reached over to grab the roses and chocolates, heading out the door and towards the portal they'd came from.
He entered it, feeling disoriented before landing on his feet in the hallway. He looked at all of the signs that they had put up, portals they'd already explored. It wouldn't be possible if Lukas hadn't marked them down in his journal. He arrived at the first red portal (maybe the second in real-time gameplay) and relit it, as for they had to take it down for 'maintenance issues'.
Ivor stepped inside, smelling a slight smoky scent and coughing from landing on the sand beneath his feet. PAMA's screen was fully taken down as only its wires were still up, the entrance to its heart now destroyed and closed up with white clay.
The alchemist walked towards a dark-skinned man, Harry--Harper's friend, and tapped on his shoulder. The man known as Harry turned around, jumping before staring and chuckling. "Oh! Hello, Ivor! What brings you back to Crown Mesa?" Ivor smiled. "Hey, Harry. Have you seen Harper by any chance?" "Yes, actually. She's right over in there.", he pointed towards a door, leading to a room. The man looked at the rose and box in Ivor's hand. " Ah, I see, asking her?", he questioned. Ivor nodded. "Yeah, but thanks!" "No problem!"
Ivor ran off towards the door, glancing at it before sighing. How would she react? Would she say yes? Would she say no? Would she at least take the flower and chocolate?
A bombardment of questions in his mind, it became barren as he suddenly felt woozy. With a shake of the head, Ivor knocked on the door, hearing a slight 'coming' followed by footsteps. Ivor took a deep breath, the door opening and revealing a messy Harper. She had oil on her face and robe-like shirt, staring up at Ivor.
Once she realized who he was, she scrambled to fix her hair and brush off her clothes. " Oh. Hi, Ivor!"
"Hi, H-Harper.", Ivor stuttered, staring intently and taking in her beautiful appearance. They stared at each other for a second before Harper widened her eyes with a blush and looked away. " So, um, what did you come here for?"
"I-uh...", Ivor trailed off, rubbing nervously at his neck. " I wanted to tell you something." This caught the woman's interest, having her look up at Ivor. "I...I...I kinda like you.", he blushed beet red, clutching the box in his hand tighter. Harper froze for a second, before smiling and giggling.
" I like you too, Ivor. I mean, didn't you get the hint when I said you were a pretty fine guy back there?", she laughed. Ivor cleared his throat.
The laughing came to a halt seconds later. "But really. I love you too, Ivy.", she smiled softly, pulling Ivor by his robe's collar and kissing him gently on the lips. Ivor enjoyed the kiss, it was gentle, and it was total bliss. It lasted for a few golden seconds before they pulled away, out of breath and staring into each other's eyes.
Harper took the rose and chocolates, running off as someone called her name with a farewell.
That was the best moment in Ivor's life, and he knew it.
